Companies With Successful Human Resource Management

From the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work for 2020 list, I selected three companies I was familiar with and knew had good reputations. These companies were Salesforce, Navy Federal Credit Union, and Adobe. These companies have about 73,000, 21,000, and 25,000 employees each respectively. Therefore, it is no surprise these businesses are doing something right to be able to be ranked so highly with thousands of employees.

Salesforce is accredited for its high employee satisfaction with over 73,000 employees total. Over 90% of employees feel this is a great place to work. Some contributing factors to this statistic is the company’s culture, values, community, and management. Salesforce has a strong focus on their employees and value inclusivity and participation from employees. This approach is very healthy for a company’s culture and creates a more efficient workplace where employees feel their work is important and meaningful. When employees feel included, they are also more motivated to perform.

The second company I selected is Navy Federal Credit Union, ranking at number 19 on the list. Employees of this company report feeling welcomed, prideful of their work, feel good about their contributions, and feel like management is interested in their development. As a nonprofit, this company is focused on serving others and to “put members first.” This company also puts their employees first and gives them a lot of the responsibility to make their own decisions. When employees have more freedom they are more committed to their roles.

The last company is Adobe. Adobe is a very successful and well known company that is ethical and provides the necessary resources to their employees. They also have a good reputation with providing benefits and catering to employees’ needs.

As a manager myself, I would like my employees to feel like they are valued and the work they do is valuable. The most difficult part of being a manager I feel would be connecting with each employee individually and continuing to make them feel heard and valuable. This would be especially difficult in a company with many employees to manage. I would also like to keep my employees motivated and cater tasks specialized to their skills. By doing so, my employees would be more efficient and more likely to succeed.
