Most people might think the best companies to work for are the ones that offer the most pay/highest salary, but the best companies to work for might just be one that offers a great work environment, benefits, work culture, community, etc. Here is what some employees are saying make their company a great place to work at:
The Cheesecake Factory – Family like work community and restaurant atmosphere. Employees feel like they are given opportunities to succeed or excel.
Wegmans Food Markets – The great people and family like community at work. Time and benefits being big factors as well as being understanding.
Intuit – Intuit employees say the best things about their company are the benefits that are offered and the team culture or people in the work place.
The three companies that I selected above all seem to practice a similar HR approach. They all seem to be focused on making their employees feel cared about. To make people feel cared about you have to show them that their wellbeing comes before the company needs, if your employees feel like this is the case, there is a better chance they will want to work harder or more efficiently. These companies above all discussed things like benefits, flexibility and understanding, work culture, people in the work place or family like environment.
I would like to be the kind of manager that makes my employees feel like I care about them and want them to succeed. I think being friendly and making connections with people is extremely important to working as a team, it is much easier to work with each other and bounce ideas off of each other if you feel like your voice will be heard. A healthy connection could make all the difference in a group activity or team project. Now, the most challenging thing for managers would be the hard discussions that come up. It is hard to feel like the bad guy or like you are being rude but sometimes these discussions need to be had. With the friendships and connections that you are able to make, these discussions can get much easier to have because the other party will likely be more understanding coming from a friend and not a manager who never talks to them unless they are doing something wrong.
