Friday August 12th, stress is one of the major things in my life as of now. As a 21 year old first generation college student, navigating my college experience practically on my own has really made me into a better leader. However this summer at home has been particularly difficult due the recent passing of my childhood dog. Her name was Hannah and she was my comfort at home. She followed and slept next to me any chance she could and now that she’s gone her warm presence towards me is also a little dull which has sent me into a cloudy haze. I find it hard to do assignments because my brain feels soggy with thoughts.
This is currently impacting my work ethic and this major life change and transition period would be like Stress in the workforce, and how I would deal with it at work. I could show good sides of stress like pushing onward or I can become burnt out at work due to depersonalization and emotional exhaustion due to family circumstances. And this is something that managers have to be aware of and cater to because everyone is affected by grief, heartbreak, loss and other adverse experiences differently and this can hinder their judgement on the line at work and put them at risk for injury.
Organizations such as “The right to work” laws are something that is being debated in politics but from my standpoint, working people are all employees but at the end of the day we’re all human and compassion should be expected in every environment with rules of course.
