Personally, I have been out of the country many times and visited foreign countries such as Brazil, China, Jamaica, Mexico, and Costa Rica. However, I have never been the Europe, which has always piqued my interest from stories told by my family and friends. During his sophomore year of college, my older brother studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain. From hearing all the exciting experiences he had in Spain, it sounds like a place I would love to reside in. After doing some research and talking with my older brother, I had found that Spain is a country full of people with open arms. They love to see people from all over the world visit as well as live alongside them. My brother spoke about how welcoming their community is and how he never had a bad experience with a native from Spain, and how they were always interested to discover new friends with different experiences across the globe. I read in an article that Spaniards tend to take their time to appreciate the world and the people around them and they savor long, multi-course meals and wander the vivacious villages and charming cities. After reading this, I realized it had completely aligned with how my older brother had described it, and I knew that I would die to be able to visit or reside there one day. The article also stated how it doesn’t matter if it was the middle of the day or night, but that there is a vibrant street culture that involves everyone from all sorts of backgrounds and ages. One of the main aspects that draw my attention to Spain is their love for their culture because, with all the art, architecture, literature, cuisine, and history, there are endless cultural experiences to appreciate. If I was offered an opportunity in my line of work (construction) I would more than consider taking this opportunity to expand my knowledge of what other cultures have to offer.
