It\u2019s been a while since my last blog post and I definitely have been busy with school and work as well as managing my time overall. I\u2019ve honestly been a little more stressed and tired than usual because I\u2019m learning a lot at my work while still putting my best foot forward with my school work. Also, I\u2019ve been trying to make time for myself and have a social life. It\u2019s been a learning curve in understanding how to balance work, school, and having a social life but I think after a few weeks into working, I\u2019m starting to get the hang of it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With my database class, I\u2019ve taken more of a lead role in creating documents for our project and have taken up a little of the front end coding as well. With this class, I\u2019ve been more strategically delegating tasks to my partner so that we\u2019re optimizing our time and effort for our project since we\u2019re both pretty busy with other responsibilities as well. Initially, I hadn\u2019t intended to take on a lead role for this class, but I think it\u2019s good practice to have some of these leadership responsibilities for future projects and teams that I\u2019ll be a part of some day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ve been learning a lot from my work and it\u2019s been great getting to know and learn more about the people at my workplace. I typically have meetings every other day for stand-ups and a lot of my work has primarily been reading through documentation and Ruby\/Rails books. My main tasks so far have been to create RSpec (a Ruby testing framework) tests for other developers on my team. I\u2019ve also been syncing with my mentor about two to three days a week, so that has been a great learning experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As cheesy as it sounds, I’ve learned a TON from this quarter. Even though I feel super drained from coding over 13-14 hours a day, I’m still enjoying what I do and coding.
