The Fulbright US Student program sponsors students with round trip airfare, a living stipend and health insurance to go abroad to a selection of over 75 different countries for one year to act as an English Teaching Assistant in foreign language classes. English Teaching Assistants (ETA&#8217;s) are flexible and dynamic members of k-12 schools or universities abroad. They assist with cultural activities and language learning at an assigned school. Being an ETA opens the door to cultural competency, communication skills and can open up possibilities for your career beyond the Fulbright year. NGSA will also discuss other opportunities to teach English available worldwide. HC x COB Discourse Movie Night!<\/strong><br>Honors College is partnering with the College of Business Discourse Program for a screening of If Beale Street Could Talk at the Darkside Cinema on May 6 at 5 p.m..This film, based on James Baldwin&#8217;s 1974 novel, follows Tish and Fonny, a young black couple from 1970s New York City, as they try to fight the criminal justice system after Fonny was wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Following the movie, there will be a discussion panel with OSU faculty and staff, where students can talk about themes in the film and how we see them today. There is a cap of 40 attendees, so registration will be required! In this month\u2019s webinar, Professor Demian Hommel will explore how generative AI is reshaping higher education and why traditional top-down approaches to AI policy often miss the student perspective. Honors College CPR Certification Class<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Honors College will be offering a 12-person adult CPR certification class, free of charge to the student participants! This event will take place on May 11th, 2026, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. in LINC 345. Once students pass the final exam, their adult CPR certification will be valid for two years before needing to be renewed. This is a great opportunity for students to get certified for summer work, internships and more. Please also note that this class is for adult CPR only, not infants and children.&nbsp;Anyone interested in attending&nbsp;<strong><em>must register,&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>or they will not be able to attend. On Friday, May 29, students will present lightning talks in person on the Corvallis campus from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., students will showcase their honors thesis research through poster presentations on the third floor of the Learning Innovation Center, where they will be available to discuss their work. It&#8217;s a great way to learn about the different research your peers have been involved in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Honors College Spring Picnic<\/strong><br>The Honors College and Honors College Student Association is excited to celebrate the end of the year with honors students and faculty at the annual Honors College Spring Picnic on Wednesday, June 3, from 4\u20136 p.m. in the SEC Plaza. That means we volunteer and staff medical clinics and screenings in communities (mostly rural) where access to health services and information is lacking. Clinics are locally initiated and locally managed \u2014 we work with in-country doctors and nurses to support collection of health data, intake of patients, recording vitals and providing health education for adults and children. It\u2019s a great experience for students interested in global health and any health profession. It\u2019s also very humbling and rewarding. We\u2019re currently preparing for our brigade in Panama in June. While that brigade is full, you might be interested in learning more about what\u2019s involved in the experience. You might also be interested in participating in our brigade in December to Ghana \u2014 we\u2019re in the process of putting together a brigade team for that experience now.
