Join us for the HC Undergraduate Research Showcases \u2014 dynamic online events where students present their thesis research in short, lightning-style talks. These showcases offer a glimpse into the wide range of topics our students explore and are a great way to get inspired, learn about research opportunities and connect with fellow students and faculty. After the presentations, stick around for breakout rooms with Q&amp;A and conversation. All students, faculty, families and friends are welcome! He turned his youthful fascination with biology and science, which he developed growing up o the south shore of Long Island, fishing and exploring coastal marshes and woodlots, into a career researching the ecology and management of insect pests of agricultural crops, insect-plant interactions, and the epidemiology and management of insect-vectored plant viruses. For those attending in person, coffee and snacks will be provided, and space is limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Honors College Alumni Pathways Conversation \u2013 Research pathways in biomedicine with Chelsea Parker Harp, \u201912<\/u><\/strong><br>All honors students are invited to meet over Zoom with HC alum Chelsea Parker Harp, \u201912, on <strong>Mon, Nov 11 from 4:00-4:50 p.m. Pacific Time over Zoom&nbsp;<\/strong>to learn more about her pathway into biomedical research. Chelsea received her H.B.S. in biochemistry and biophysics, with minors in chemistry and philosophy. She then earned a Ph.D. in 2018, studying a model of Multiple Sclerosis to study how different immune cells coordinate and perpetuate autoimmunity in the central nervous system. Chelsea is now a senior scientist at Seismic Tx, working to bring novel biologic therapies to the clinic for autoimmunity indications. Before this, she was a biology project representative for one of two lead assets targeting inflammatory pathways at Montai Health, a Flagship Pioneering Company in Cambridge, MA. She has also worked in the multiple sclerosis and neuroinflammation research unity at Biogen, where she led a partnered program for PROTAC therapy targeting CNS resident inflammation. <a href=\"https:\/\/oregonstate.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_a3PGlH8sCaKCTvU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Get the Zoom link by RSVPing here!<\/a><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NEW!&nbsp;Honors College Dean and Friends Coffee Conversation \u2013 Leadership and Communication, with Tom Harvey<\/strong><br>All honors students are invited to a Dean and Friends Conversation on <strong>Friday, November 14th from 3:00-3:50 p.m. in LInC 343 (or over Zoom)<\/strong> on &#8220;Cross-Functional Team Leadership and Communication,&#8221; with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/thomaslharvey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tom Harvey<\/a>. Tom is the parent of a current Honors College student and is a Boeing Designated Expert in high-pressure systems integration in the Boeing Environmental Control System Design Center, where he leads and builds cross-functional teams to resolve high-priority technical issues and initiatives. He has his B.S. in mechanical engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington, focusing on management of technology programs. Tom has been with the Boeing Company since 1997 in a variety of roles and is a certified Project Management Professional and Boeing Lean Leader for Value Stream Mapping. Some of the eligibility requirements include: students must have 3rd or 4th year class standing, 3.0 GPA, and have attended OSU for at least two terms.\u00a0<strong>The application is currently open in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oregonstate.scholarshipuniverse.com\/student\/scholarship\/471635\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scholar Dollars<\/a>\u00a0and closes on Fri, Oct 31.<br><br>Honors College Emergency Grant<br><\/strong>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/honors.oregonstate.edu\/emergency-grant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Honors College Emergency Grant<\/a>\u00a0supports students facing unexpected expenses related to housing and\/or meals, course materials or equipment for a class, healthcare and\/or mental healthcare costs, vehicle repairs necessary for travel to class, and\/or travel home for family emergencies. Grants are for up to <strong>$500<\/strong>, with a limit of two grants during your time in the HC. Only expenses related to the above list are eligible for emergency grant support, per university policy. Tuition or other general costs of enrollment are not eligible for funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong><u>HC Experiential Learning Scholarship<\/u><\/strong><br>The Honors College Experiential Learning Scholarship supports student engagement in the honors thesis (thesis proposal required), attendance at professional or academic conferences, payment of non-tuition fees associated with honors courses, or participation in an honors study abroad program. Applications are reviewed based on need, and the maximum award is $750. <a href=\"https:\/\/honors.oregonstate.edu\/experiential-learning-scholarship\">See here for additional information<\/a>. Students will graduate with a PhD from one of the participating programs to prepare them for careers in biomedical sciences. OU Health Sciences Center is one of only a few comprehensive academic health centers in the nation. Internationally prominent faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge technology, and nearly $200 million in external funding combine to make GPiBS the leader in graduate education and research in Oklahoma.&nbsp;The application for the 2026 GPiBS class opened on August 1st, 2025 with a<strong> priority deadline of December 1st, 2025<\/strong>.
