WEEKLY! <\/u><\/strong>Wag and Walk Wednesdays with Cedar!<\/strong>
Join Cedar, the campus wellness dog, for a weekly Wag and Walk with the Honors College! Take some time out of your Wednesday to take a break, get outside, and connect with others (and pet Cedar, of course)! Walks will not be challenging, and we will go on whatever route Cedar’s nose and curiosity leads us. Come for the hour or come for part of it- we can even walk you to your next class! Wag and Walk with Cedar will start at 1 p.m., meeting on the west side of the LINC<\/strong> (by the LINC doors facing Sackett Hall!), and will last until roughly 2 or 2:15. Honors student researcher Roman Quick is seeking students to participate as volunteers in his thesis research on food insecurity. “This is an Honors Thesis student’s survey researching the food programs and strategies utilized by the OSU student population. UReCA: The NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creativity Activity welcomes your research and creative submissions before June 1<\/strong>. UReCA is sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council, and is currently managed, edited and produced by a team of twenty-nine undergraduate students from each of the NCHC regions and a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. Global Medical Brigades at Oregon State University is a student organization that works in partnership with Global Brigades, a nonprofit health and sustainable development organization. Since 2004, Global Brigades has mobilized tens of thousands of university students and professionals through skill-based programs that work in partnership with community members, improving the quality of life in under-resourced regions while respecting local cultures. Inspiring, mobilizing, and collaborating with communities to achieve their own health and economic goals, Global Brigades hosts medical clinics and economic development programs in Honduras, Panama, Ghana, Guatemala, Greece, and Belize. The Honors College Emergency Grant<\/a> supports students facing unexpected expenses, including housing, meals, course materials, healthcare, vehicle repairs, and travel for family emergencies. Grants are up to $500 per term, with a limit of two grants during your time in the HC. Honors College differential tuition is not covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Honors College Experiential Learning Scholarship supports student engagement in the honors thesis (thesis proposal required), attendance at professional or academic conferences, payment of non-tuition fees associated with honors courses, or participation in an honors study abroad program. Applications are reviewed based on need, and the maximum award is $750. See here<\/a> for additional information. The Innovation Lab<\/a> at Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR is offering two internships starting at the beginning of Summer term 2025 through the calendar year to the end of Spring term 2026. Students will work 10 hours per week during academic terms and 40 hours per week during the summer term. Interns will be provided summer housing on the Hatfield
campus in Newport, Oregon. In this internship, students will focus on the engineering and design associated with studying the marine world. A background in engineering is not a prerequisite to the internship. The prerequisite for these internships is a desire to develop solutions for problems facing marine research and a broad desire to more deeply explore the marine world. The bulk of the internship will be focused on progressing an independent research\/design project. Interns will also work on designing or manufacturing short-term projects that come through the lab during the internship. These internships are sponsored in full by the Roundhouse Foundation.

Cross-Language and LLM-Based Code Validation for HPC Scientific Applications<\/strong>
A HC student is wanted for an interdisciplinary project<\/a> which spans three areas of Computer Science: Software Engineering, High-Performance Computing, and AI\/ML. The goal is to design and implement a framework that can automatically test or verify the correctness of HPC scientific applications whose code is either translated from one programming language to another or generated from natural language descriptions using Large Language Models (LLMs).
