Join Cedar, the campus wellness dog, for a weekly Wag and Walk with the Honors College! Walks will not be challenging, and we will go on whatever route Cedar’s nose and curiosity leads us. Come for the hour or come for part of it- we can even walk you to your next class! 2025 Honors College Spring Gala<\/strong>
The Annual Honors College Spring Gala is happening Fri, May 9 <\/strong>this year and will be held in the CH2M HILL Alumni Center<\/strong>. The theme this year is western chic with a special appearance from the OSU Western Line Dance Club! Honors student researcher Roman Quick is seeking students to participate as volunteers in his thesis research on food insecurity. “This is an Honors Thesis student’s survey researching the food programs and strategies utilized by the OSU student population. Dean and Friends Lunch on Multidisciplinary Collaboration in Artistic Projects and Installations with award-winning public artist Larry Kirkland<\/strong>
All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends lunch on multidisciplinary collaboration in artistic projects and installations with Larry Kirkland, \u201972, on Tues, Apr. 29<\/strong> from noon-12:50 p.m. PDT in LinC 345 and over Zoom<\/strong>. Larry is one of the leading public artists in the world today. He has collaborated with design professionals and community leaders to create art works to honor individuals, places, communities and events at locations across the world. He has created works for the Brown University Alpert School of Medicine; Pennsylvania Station in New York City; the University of Iowa Children\u2019s Hospital; the California Museum of Science in Los Angeles; several federal courthouses; the American Red Cross Headquarters; the National Academies of Science in Washington D.C.; Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Hong Kong Central Station; and Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan. His memorials include works at the Civil Rights Garden in Atlantic City, the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial in Washington D.C., the Southwestern Pennsylvania World War II Memorial, and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta. His most recent work was a waterfront park on the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington, completed in 2018, and he is currently creating a Peace Corps Commemorative Park adjacent to the U.S. Capitol. He has extensive work on public art selection and review panels, as well, and has written several art master plans. For his work, he\u2019s received a fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts and alumni recognition from Oregon State University. Larry graduated from the Oregon State University honors program that preceded the current Honors College with a degree in art. For this special Dean and Friends lunch conversation, Larry will discuss the collaborations between engineers, construction managers, artisans, researchers, writers, landscape architects, architects, lighting designers, and more that have been behind his projects, focusing on selected examples. Submit Creative Works to the NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creativity Activity<\/strong>
UReCA: The NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creativity Activity welcomes your research and creative submissions before June 1<\/strong>. UReCA is sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council, and is currently managed, edited and produced by a team of twenty-nine undergraduate students from each of the NCHC regions and a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. Global Medical Brigades at Oregon State University is a student organization that works in partnership with Global Brigades, a nonprofit health and sustainable development organization. Since 2004, Global Brigades has mobilized tens of thousands of university students and professionals through skill-based programs that work in partnership with community members, improving the quality of life in under-resourced regions while respecting local cultures. Inspiring, mobilizing, and collaborating with communities to achieve their own health and economic goals, Global Brigades hosts medical clinics and economic development programs in Honduras, Panama, Ghana, Guatemala, Greece, and Belize. Our Oregon State chapter will be working in Guatemala during Winter Break, December 14-20, 2025<\/strong>. The Honors College Emergency Grant<\/a> supports students facing unexpected expenses, including housing, meals, course materials, healthcare, vehicle repairs, and travel for family emergencies. Grants are up to $500 per term, with a limit of two grants during your time in the HC. Honors College differential tuition is not covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Honors College Experiential Learning Scholarship supports student engagement in the honors thesis (thesis proposal required), attendance at professional or academic conferences, payment of non-tuition fees associated with honors courses, or participation in an honors study abroad program. Applications are reviewed based on need, and the maximum award is $750. See here<\/a> for additional information. Become a student ambassador for the Oregon NASA Space Grant Consortium<\/strong>
Oregon Space Grant will select up to four (4) undergraduate students to serve as the face and voice of OSGC and share NASA\u2019s commitment to STEM education through public outreach events. The program is open to OSU students in a broad range of disciplines, including, but not limited to, communication, education, marketing, and traditional STEM fields like engineering, mathematics, earth sciences, chemistry, biology, food science, and computer science. Up to four awards of $7,500 per award will be awarded in the 2025-26 Student Ambassador program, contingent upon funding from NASA Office of STEM Engagement.

OSU Student Energy Analyst Position<\/strong>
Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy\/technical analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-15 hrs\/week) and during the summer (30-40 hrs\/week).<\/strong> The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. These engineering analyses and improvement recommendations are compiled into a report and delivered to the client. As a reminder, though you are only required to meet with your Honors College academic advisor once per year, feel free to meet with your HC academic advisor whenever you have questions. <\/span>The Honors College student learning space, the SLUG, opens Tuesday, September 24. Located in Learning Innovation Center 340, the SLUG offers students study spaces, snacks and free printing. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
