Beavs Serve is a term-long, service-learning and experiential leadership opportunity for students who want to get engaged with the community. They are offering 3 different opportunities in the Spring! Honors College students who join one of these cohorts have the option to earn credit through our one credit HC 409 option. NEW! Dean and Friends Conversation \u2013 Leadership in Removing Barriers to Academic Success<\/strong>
All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends lunch conversation with Susan Castillo, \u201981, on Thurs, Apr. 10 from noon-12:50 p.m. in LInC 343<\/strong> on \u201cLeadership in Removing Barriers to Academic Success.\u201d Susan Castillo is a groundbreaking leader in Oregon politics and education policy. The granddaughter of Mexican immigrants and the daughter of a mother with only an eighth-grade education, she grew up seeing first-hand the connection between education and opportunity. After graduating from Oregon State in 1981 with a BA in communications, Susan had a 14-year career as a television journalist in Eugene. She then left reporting and served as a state senator for six years, becoming the first Hispanic woman to serve in the Oregon Legislature. She was subsequently elected statewide to three terms as Oregon Superintendent of Public Instruction, before she was recruited to be vice president of the west region for the non-profit organization, Project Lead the Way. In that role, she hired and managed a team that worked with schools, universities and industry leaders to help students and teachers across 12 states access high-quality STEM curriculum. Submit Creative Works to WSU Honors Publication, The Palouse Review<\/strong>
Have you ever wanted to submit your work to a literary arts journal? Now is your chance! The Palouse Review, an online Honors publication at Washington State University, is seeking Honors students who would like their work published in their upcoming editions. They publish a wide variety of original work by Honors students, including scholarship, creative writing, visual art, and music. Submit Creative Works to the NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creativity Activity<\/strong>
UReCA: The NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creativity Activity welcomes your research and creative submissions before June 1<\/strong>. UReCA is sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council, and is currently managed, edited and produced by a team of twenty-nine undergraduate students from each of the NCHC regions and a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. MACO Student Award applications now open<\/strong>
Marine and Coastal Opportunities (MACO) is pleased to announce the 2025 MACO Student Awards<\/a>. These awards recognize and reward OSU undergraduate students who demonstrate outstanding scholarship and pursuits consistent with the transdisciplinary, collaborative, experiential learning and outreach vision and mission of MACO. To advance understanding of the complex social, cultural, historical, and economic nature of the marine environment, preference will be given to students studying these human dimensions of the coasts and ocean. Up to $500 per award, current OSU undergraduate students may apply for this scholarship. The application deadline is Mar. 31<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honors College Emergency Grant<\/strong>
The Honors College Emergency Grant<\/a> supports students facing unexpected expenses, including housing, meals, course materials, healthcare, vehicle repairs, and travel for family emergencies. Grants are up to $500 per term, with a limit of two grants during your time in the HC. Honors College differential tuition is not covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HC Experiential Learning Scholarship<\/u><\/strong>
The Honors College Experiential Learning Scholarship supports student engagement in the honors thesis (thesis proposal required), attendance at professional or academic conferences, payment of non-tuition fees associated with honors courses, or participation in an honors study abroad program. Applications are reviewed based on need, and the maximum award is $750. See here<\/a> for additional information. Applications can be submitted through ScholarDollars and evaluated on a rolling basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW! <\/strong>TOPAZ\/JASPER Summer Internship in Port Orford<\/strong>
The TOPAZ\/JASPER project will be continuing its 11th field season of gray whale and zooplankton data collection in Port Orford this summer! For 6 weeks (July 13 – Aug 24), the selected OSU undergrad intern will be a part of a team of students who will be observing gray whales during their migration and collecting zooplankton samples daily to contribute data to our long-term project. 
The ideal candidate for this position is a student interested in marine science\/oceanography\/ marine mammal science, enthusiastic about learning new skills, enjoys working in a team, able to work back-to-back field days and available to work at the OSU Port Orford Field station for the entire duration of the field season. By the end of the field season, the student will have achieved 6 weeks of fieldwork experience, improved upon their science communication skills, and be a part of a legacy of students who have contributed to the decade’s worth of gray whale and zooplankton data collection!
The internship is PAID, with potential overtime as well as base meal and housing covered.

OSU Student Energy Analyst Position<\/strong>
Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy\/technical analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-15 hrs\/week) and during the summer (30-40 hrs\/week).<\/strong> The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. These engineering analyses and improvement recommendations are compiled into a report and delivered to the client. University Legislative Scholars Applications Open<\/strong>
The University Legislative Scholars (ULS) program offers a year-long opportunity to engage with public policy at the state and federal levels. Students can join tuition-free or for two credits per term. Participants meet with legislators, learn about government careers, visit the State Capitol, and build connections with peers. Scholarships are available. All majors are encouraged to apply, with a focus on underrepresented and STEM students. ASA Content Tutors Needed<\/strong>

Truckin’ Tuesdays at the Memorial Union<\/u><\/strong>
Truckin\u2019 Tuesday is community event hosted by the Memorial Union Activities Team focused on bringing different types of foods to campus through food trucks! Most Tuesday’s there will be a variety of trucks next to the MU Quad open to students, staff, and the public. This is a chance for people of all ages on the OSU campus to try new foods, support local businesses, and add a little bit of sparkle to their Tuesdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Basic Needs Center (BNC)<\/a> has a Textbook Lending Library open to all on-campus students that includes books, calculators, chemistry model sets, and more.
