<\/span>All Honors College students are invited to HCSA’s Spring Gala for a night of music, dancing, activities and celebration on Thursday, May 23rd from 6-9 p.m.<\/strong> in the MU ballroom. Semi-formal attire is encouraged. While we acknowledge that many students have friends outside of the Honors College, we ask that students refrain from bringing guests unless they are also members of the Honors College. <\/span>HC Graduates from Summer ’23-Summer ’24 are invited to join the Honors College deans and staff on Friday, June 14 from 4-6 p.m. in the LInC Lawn<\/strong> as we celebrate the accomplishments of honors students at the 2024 Honors College Graduation Celebration! There will be gifts for graduates, light refreshments and opportunities for photos at this event. Students and families are welcome to arrive any time from 4-5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This summer, incoming students will read Javier Zamora\u2019s gripping memoir, Solito. This is the story of Zamora\u2019s migration at age nine from El Salvador to the U.S. as an unaccompanied minor. We invite everyone to read this year\u2019s selection, and to that end we have provided copies of the book that you can check out at Valley Library Reserves (four copies in English and one in Spanish). On Wednesday October 16, Zamora will come to campus to meet with honors students and participate in a moderated conversation at PRAx, the new performing arts center. Hosted by Dewi Roberts, the Advising Coordinator for the HC, they\u2019ll run Monday through Friday between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m<\/strong>. Whether you\u2019re grappling with formatting challenges for your pre-text pages, have questions about the external communication requirement, would like to schedule your thesis, or encounter any other thesis-related issues, this is your opportunity to seek assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>The Honors College encourages recent graduates to donate their HC Graduation Regalia to our office so that they can be borrowed for future students in an effort to be more sustainable and save students the investment. Would you be interested in an on-campus job working with industry clients to reduce energy use and improve productivity, while applying what you are learning in your classes? The OSU Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) is looking for motivated student energy analysts to work part-time during the school year (10-20 hrs\/week) and during the summer (~40 hrs\/week). The OSU EEC offers comprehensive, student-led, on-site energy and productivity assessments to small and medium-sized manufacturers through a US Department of Energy funded program. Student teams advised by engineering faculty visit manufacturers and seek ways to increase their productivity and reduce energy use and waste. <\/span>Eliza Young Barstow, Senior Instructor of Religious Studies, invites you to a series of panels featuring a diverse collection of religious leaders from the Willamette Valley who have agreed to gather and discuss challenging social issues. The sessions will be panel discussions, with questions asked by Dr. Barstow. Towards the end of each session, there will be time for audience questions. These panels are funded by a grant from Interfaith America. The next panel will take place on Thursday, May 23rd from 4 – 6 p.m.<\/strong> in the Journey Room of the Memorial Union. May 23\u2019s topic is race and racism within religion, and audience members will get to learn how people from five different religions think about issues of religious leadership, marriage, and gender identities within their respective religions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
