All Honors College students are invited to a special Dean and Friends lunch conversation with Judge Mary Deits Rousseau on \u201cHow the Court System Affects You More than You Think\u201d on Friday, January 19th <\/strong>from noon-12:50 p.m. in Memorial Union 213<\/strong>. Judge Rousseau was named an Honors College Alumni Fellow by the Oregon State University Alumni Association in 2023 and is a member of the Honors College Board of Regents, the college\u2019s leadership advisory group. After graduating from the honors program at Oregon State in 1971, she became the second woman to serve on the Oregon Court of Appeals and one of the first in the country to be a Chief Judge of a state Court of Appeals. At this discussion, she\u2019ll share reflections on how the courts affect us all in our everyday lives and how the role of the courts is changing. Through generous support from Dr. Kim Eagle ’76, the HC is privileged to offer students the opportunity to apply for an internship with the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (MCORRP<\/a>). This year there will be 2 students selected. This summer internship program is a 10 week opportunity, from early June to August, at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. Experience includes work involved with MCORRP databases, developing a research project, and experiencing medicine first hand, and the chance to accompany\u00a0physicians and to shadow\u00a0 medical specialists. Preference will be given to students in their third year of study within the HC at the time of application.\u00a0Interested in pursuing a career in healthcare? The Cooperative Institute for Marine Resources Studies (CIMERS)\u00a0in cooperation with the Inclusive NOAA Fisheries Internship Program (IN FISH) is seeking applications for an\u00a0IN FISH participant at their location in Newport, OR. The 10-week internship is paid and includes a 2-week course available for credit.
As an intern, you will gain first-hand experience in big data by analyzing oceanographic data and\/or model output using Python. Beyond the research experience, you will have an opportunity to ask questions about graduate programs and interact with the six state and federal agencies located at the Hatfield Marine Science Center.
