The Honors College Student Association is hosting a watch party for the OSU vs. Washington game on Friday, November 4 at 7:30<\/strong> in the West Hall Main Lounge. THIS WEEK! <\/strong>Study Strategies for ADHD Awareness Month<\/strong>
In honor of ADHD awareness month, HCSA is holding an event on October 20 at 5 p.m. in LInC 345<\/strong> that discusses science-backed study strategies for academic success and how it can help students with ADHD and other attention deficit disorders. There will be a presentation from Dr. Jacqueline Goldman, professor of psychology and an expert in learning strategies. A study break will follow the presentation to practice these study strategies. National and Global Scholarships Info Night!<\/strong>
Have you ever thought about studying or doing research abroad during or after your degree? There are scholarships for that! LeAnn Adam and Becca Otto from the National and Global Scholarships Advising Office invite students to join them in Sackett Hall for a chat about scholarship opportunities available both in college and beyond. Come enjoy refreshments and cookies, learn about which scholarships might be a good fit for you, and figure out how to apply. NEW! Crash Course in Digital Media – Research Addition<\/strong>
On Thursday, October 27 at 2 p.m. in LInC 343<\/strong> join the HC and Hayden Wilcox with the Media Hub for this workshop about how to make an effective thesis poster and presentation about your research. As a part of Stage 4 students need to communicate to an external audience. There will be time for questions. THIS FRIDAY! Reception with OSU President Jayathi Murthy and the Honors College Board of Regents<\/strong>
On Friday, October 21<\/strong>, as a part of the fall meeting of the Honors College Board of Regents<\/a>, the college\u2019s external leadership group, there is an afternoon reception in the SLUG <\/strong>with new OSU President Jayathi Murthy beginning at 3:30 p.m.<\/strong> Students, faculty, staff and other community members are welcome to attend. –<\/strong> Physics<\/strong> study groups will be on Wednesdays at 5pm in LInC 360 and Thursdays at 1 p.m. in LInC 350.

HC Differential Tuition Emergency Grant<\/u><\/strong>
The Honors College encourages students experiencing unusual financial challenges to apply<\/a> for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant of $500. HC Experiential Award Application<\/u><\/strong>
Honors students who have submitted a thesis proposal are eligible to apply<\/a> for an Honors Experiential Scholarship of up to $750 in support of participation at a professional conference or engagement in thesis research. NEW! Project  & Technology Coordinator Job <\/strong>Opportunities<\/strong>
The Project Coordinator<\/a> will be responsible for coordinating participant payments and communications for the Better Jobs for Young Workers (\u201cBJYW\u201d) Research Study, which to better understand how young adults without college degrees can improve their job quality. This position averages ten hours a week at $15\/hr and has flexible scheduling. The Technology Coordinator<\/a> will finalize the development of a relational database with a connector script using the Qualtrics API to receive information on a survey wave completion and then invite participants to return for the next wave at the appropriate time interval. They will also create front end integration for the relational database to facilitate lookup by the participant-facing team. This position averages ten hours a week at $15\/hr and has flexible scheduling.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at the University of Central Florida (Orlando, FL, USA) is renewing its Early Action opportunity for individuals considering beginning their PhD studies in the fall 2023 academic semester. Research Assistants Needed for the Kindergarten Readiness Research Program<\/strong>
This research program has a federal grant to scale up and test the efficacy of the Red Light, Purple Light<\/a><\/em> (RLPL) movement and music self-regulation intervention in preschool children. UPCOMING DEADLINE! <\/strong>Marine Logo Design Contest<\/strong>
Are you artistic? Do you love science? Do you want to win $250? <\/strong>If any of these questions have piqued your interest, read on! For the last three years, fishermen along the Oregon coast have partnered with scientists at OSU to collect dissolved oxygen observations from inside their crab pots. We have been calling this project Fishermen Investigating Seasonal Hypoxia \u2014 or FISH. You can learn more about the project at our website fishresearch.net<\/a>. We are looking for a logo that we can put on hats, stickers, etc. for the project. Submissions Needed for the Student Resources Digest!<\/strong>
The Student Resources Digest<\/em> mailings will be starting again soon. This effort is one way that we work collaboratively to make students aware of services and resources available to them. We collect submissions from campus partners, compile them into a digest and mail them to you every two weeks of the term. Click here<\/a> for an example digest from last fall. We\u2019re now live and collecting submissions for fall term.
