{"id":7044,"date":"2022-05-31T10:49:10","date_gmt":"2022-05-31T17:49:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/honorslink\/?p=7044"},"modified":"2022-09-29T22:58:47","modified_gmt":"2022-09-30T05:58:47","slug":"honors-college-raises-over-50000-for-scholarships-on-2022-dam-proud-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/honorslink\/2022\/05\/31\/honors-college-raises-over-50000-for-scholarships-on-2022-dam-proud-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Honors College Raises Over $50,000 for Scholarships on 2022 \u2018Dam Proud Day\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>April 27, 2022, was Oregon State University\u2019s third annual Day of Giving, \u201cDam Proud Day,\u201d and the Honors College raised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.damproudday.org\/organizations\/osu-honors-college?utm_source=Honors%20College&amp;utm_medium=Facebook&amp;utm_campaign=DPD2022&amp;utm_content=dpd-promo-facebook\">$51,839<\/a>, the eighth most on campus among the more than 50 participating units. Eighty-nine donors made gifts, exceeding the college\u2019s goal of 75 for the day, and the total contributions surpassed the money raised in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is yet another amazing day for the Honors College,\u201d says Dean Toni Doolen. \u201cI am blown away by the support of the honors community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All donations were in support of Differential Tuition Scholarships for honors students. Differential tuition primarily funds honors coursework and student programming, making many of the unique elements of the Honors College possible. Each year, returning honors students can apply for a Differential Tuition Scholarship to help offset this cost, which is currently $1,500 each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By meeting this year\u2019s goal of 75 contributions, the college unlocked over $30,000 in challenge gifts donated by honors alumni, families, staff and faculty:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>The Alumni Challenge<\/strong>, created by Eric, &#8217;00, and Heather MacKender; Karen Bolin, &#8217;82; and Duane, &#8217;77, and Rebecca Coen<\/li><li><strong>The Deans and Faculty Challenge<\/strong>, created by Joe Hendricks and Hazel Reeves; Dan and Wanda Arp; Toni, Ph.D. &#8217;01, and Erick Doolen; Kerry Ahearn; and Jim and Bonnie Krueger<\/li><li><strong>The Parent Challenge<\/strong>, created by Susan Lair and Douglas Trobough; Dan, &#8217;81, and Margaret Porth; Jill and Randy Thomas; Kevin and Anne Spencer; and Michael and Suzy Cordisco<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe saw gifts from every constituency in the Honors College \u2013 alumni, faculty and staff, family and even students \u2013 and we have increased fundraising in each Day of Giving,\u201d says Toni. \u201cThat kind of commitment really demonstrates the depth of the support for the college and honors students.
