With thanks to Provost Ed Feser for continued financial support, the University Legislative Scholars Program<\/a> is recruiting students for the 2022-23 academic year. Get involved with policy, creating individual development plans and scholars. There are four main goals in this program. First, to ensure that voices that have historically been absent from the decision-making process in Oregon are heard. Second, to facilitate experiential learning and the long-term professional development in the political and public policy process across all academic disciplines, with particular attention to historically marginalized populations. Third, to support higher education in the Oregon legislative process in order to rectify decisions and actions that limit access and affordability and that contribute to long-term debt for students and their families; and lastly, to help students find their own path toward professional and educational engagement in a public policy issue of their choosing. There are credit and non-credit options for this program, and scholarships are available to cover the cost of base tuition.<\/strong> All majors are encouraged to apply here<\/a> to this program!
Google Women of Color in Tech Scholarship<\/strong>
The CS-ER team is very excited to share information with you about a new Google-sponsored scholarship. The new Women of Color in Tech Scholarship<\/a> is intended to help raise awareness about the gender gap in tech and the barriers women of color face in entering the industry. The scholarship, administered by Scholly (a scholarship organization) will provide 20 scholarships for $10,000 each to Black, Latina and\/or Native senior high school or undergraduate women students who are currently pursuing a computing-related degree and wish to use the funding to support a computer science higher education degree. Are you interested in being a tutor? Sophomores, juniors and seniors can apply to be a tutor through the Beth Ray Center during the summer and fall quarters. This job will be one-on-one tutoring for up to twenty hours a week based on major and course experience. Mentors provide a similar service and support students through their academic studies. Beaver Connect is looking for honors faculty mentors for the 2022-23 academic year! Faculty mentors will work alongside an honors undergraduate student serving as a peer mentor for a group of new HC students at our Corvallis campus next year. This program prioritizes applications from students of color, first-generation college students and those with high financial need entering OSU as new first-year or transfer students. The OPEnS Lab seeks undergraduate researchers to work in a hands-on technology-rich makerspace to produce next generation sensing technologies for environmental research. On Wednesday, May 25 from 12-1 p.m.<\/strong>, make sure to attend the annual gathering of the Oregon State University Native American style flute circle, led by music instructor Jan Looking Wolf Reibach. This event is taking place in the SEC Plaza<\/strong>. Past flute circle gatherings at Oregon State are thought to be the largest in the world. They have brought together past and present students of Music 108, one of the most popular baccalaureate core courses at OSU, in a celebration of cultural diversity and togetherness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
