All Honors College students are invited to a virtual Dean and Friends conversation this Tuesday, April 5 from 12-12:50 p.m.<\/strong> with Kris Kruse-Elliott and Steven Elliott on \u201cHow to Have Fun in Hospitals and Amusement Parks.\u201d Kris attended Oregon State for both undergraduate and veterinary school before beginning her career in veterinary medicine. She was previously tenured faculty at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and has worked in private practice. Currently, she is a consultant and educator on various veterinary platforms and provides anesthesia and analgesia training and advice to researchers. Steven graduated from OSU in 1981 in electrical and computer engineering. He began his career with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as a biomedical engineer before joining Walt Disney Imagineering\u2019s Research and Development Group in 1990. During his time at Disney, he performed analysis and testing of amusement rides in support of the development of new ride systems, and he has two US patents for amusement ride systems. The Oregon State University Honors College is excited to introduce a brand-new Dean and Friends Virtual Conversation Series: Pathways to Career Leadership. The Honors College is seeking ambassadors for Dam Proud Day 2022<\/a>! As an ambassador, you will get loud to express your Honors College pride and spread the word about Dam Proud Day. The application for 2022-2023 Honors College Differential Tuition Scholarships is now open in ScholarDollars<\/a>. Continuing Honors College students must<\/strong> complete this application to be eligible for scholarships in the Honors College. First-year student scholarships are awarded separately, and first-year students are not eligible for the Differential Tuition Scholarship. The application deadline is Friday, April 15.<\/strong> In addition to the application, students who are eligible to complete a FAFSA or ORSAA for the 2022-2023 are highly encouraged to do so; remember that FAFSA and ORSAA must be completed for each academic year. Google Women of Color in Tech Scholarship<\/strong>
The CS-ER team is very excited to share information with you about a new Google-sponsored scholarship. The new Women of Color in Tech scholarship<\/a> is intended to help raise awareness about the gender gap in tech and the barriers women of color face in entering the industry. The scholarship, administered by Scholly (a scholarship organization) will provide 20 scholarships for $10,000 each to Black, Latina and\/or Native senior high school or undergraduate women students who are currently pursuing a computing related degree and wish to use the funding to support a computer science higher education degree. Financial Aid Opportunities<\/strong>
Financial aid and scholarships can make paying for school much easier, and now is the time to submit your FAFSA<\/a> (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or ORSAA<\/a> (Oregon Student Aid Application) and apply for scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year. Filing a FAFSA or ORSAA is something you need to do every year. We recommend you file as soon as possible. Here are some reasons why:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
– OSU awarded more than $66 million in scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year.
– The FAFSA is how you access all types of federal aid, including grants, loans and work study. Consider it a safety net \u2013 even if you never need these resources, it\u2019s good to have the option ready if your circumstances change.
– The FAFSA and ORSAA make you eligible for consideration for the Oregon Opportunity Grant<\/a> and other aid programs at OSU.
– Most types of aid have limited funding available, so the sooner you submit your FAFSA or ORSAA, the better your chances of receiving an award.

The Oregon Applied Sustainability Experience<\/a> (OASE) Programis a PAID <\/strong>10-week internship that places diverse undergraduate and graduate students in Oregon with a variety of Oregon-based companies. Portland State University\u2019s 2022 summer REU site program is now accepting applications. This is an eight-week long research experience that gives students the opportunity to work closely with a PSU faculty member to conduct a research project. REU participants will attend various research skill training activities and take a short course about scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and focused ion beam microscopy (FIB) for materials characterizations before they join faculty members\u2019 research lab to conduct their projects. The program runs from June 20 until August 12<\/strong>.
