The guest at this session will be Neebinnaukzhik Southall <\/strong>a 2011 Honors College graduate who received their HBFA in applied visual arts. Neebin is a member of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, and they run a small creative business (Neebin Studios<\/a>) and work as a graphic designer, artist, photographer, and writer in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They also maintain a list of Indigenous graphic designers at the Native Graphic Design Project<\/a>. Neebin is fundamentally concerned with representing Native peoples in a positive and empowering way through their work. At this Dean and Friends, they will talk about their career and discuss how individual interests, ideas, and passions can be translated into opportunities. Jensen Davis is currently surveying students about their time spent participating in outdoor activities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. This study, Outdoor recreation rates during COVID-19 quarantine, hopes to look at how people have changed their recreation habits over the past year to better predict how to manage recreation areas in the future. The survey found here<\/a> will only take 5-10 minutes and will help Davis with their thesis!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applications are being accepted for the 2022 Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship<\/strong>! The scholarship honors and recognizes OSU undergraduates who are community engaged leaders actively involved in activities beyond course work and who have demonstrated that they are committed to advancing a more caring, equitable, and socially just OSU and\/or local community. Current OSU undergraduate students who have completed at least one year of enrollment at any OSU campus, or another college or university (2-year or 4-year) are eligible to apply. Applications via Scholar Dollars<\/a> are due by Tuesday, Feb. 15. In 2022 five students will be awarded a one-time scholarship in the amount of $2,000<\/strong>. Honors students participating in professional conferences or in need of financial support for research expenses related to their thesis can apply for an Honors Experiential Scholarship. The application can be found here<\/a>. Only applicants who have submitted a signed thesis proposal to the Honors College are eligible for research expense support. The Udall Foundation<\/a> awards scholarships of $7,000 to college sophomores and juniors on the basis of their leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to American Indian nations or to the environment. Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant<\/strong>
The Honors College recognizes that these may continue to be challenging times for Honors College students and their families. We encourage students who are experiencing difficulty paying the costs associated with Honors College enrollment to apply<\/a> for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant ($500). Determinations will be made on a rolling basis and will consider both need and the likelihood of earning the Honors Baccalaureate. Through a generous gift by Dr. Kim Eagle, the Honors College is pleased to offer a paid internship with the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (MCORRP). This summer internship program is a 10-week opportunity, starting in the first week of June <\/strong>and concluding in Augus<\/strong>t, at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. The intern participating in the program will join a diverse group of students from various schools across the country, work on a research project and experience medicine first hand. More information about the Michigan Program can be found here<\/a>. This internship includes a stipend, as well as a housing and travel allowance. To apply students should be interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, and be a strong steward of OSU and the Honors College. NEW! HC France and London Study Abroad Informational Session<\/strong>
Are you interested in going abroad with the Honors College? Join the HC this Friday, Jan. 14 from 12-1 p.m. in LInC 360<\/strong> for an informational session on the HC 2022 faculty-led summer study abroad trips to France and London! For the France program: From exploring efforts by French leaders to confront climate change to immersing yourself in France\u2019s history, culture and food system, hear how OSU faculty plan to transform the cities of Paris and Lyon into dynamic, interactive classrooms for 18 days. For London: This 3-week program is geared toward incoming HC students but open to all students in the HC, and includes one required Bacc Core course, HST 102H: History of Western Civilization, and the choice of one of two colloquia:HC 407: Crime and Punishment, which explores American vs. British justice systems, or HC 407: Crossing an Ocean with Wires and Waves. <\/u><\/strong>Soundbox 5 is looking for new and collaborative works that demonstrate intermedia, cross-disciplinary works of art. All forms of art are welcome to participate in this interdisciplinary festival that will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 23-24.<\/strong> Last year, Soundbox 4 brought together over 100+ participants. There was a record number of educators, community members, songwriters, video artists, engineers, sound artists, composers, animators, visual artists, and technologists who participated run this festival. The Community Health Fellowship is a unique \u201cgap year\u201d opportunity for recent college graduates from across the country.
