OSU Continues to Require Face Coverings Indoors<\/strong><br>Based on new face covering guidelines from the Oregon Health Authority, <strong>face coverings are no longer required outdoors at OSU, unless the outdoor setting is crowded, or physical distancing cannot be maintained. <\/strong>OSU does not believe the state&#8217;s proof of vaccination requirements are workable in an open university environment where entry to facilities is not carefully controlled, and as such, OSU has shared feedback with state officials in the hopes of revising OHA requirements to be more suitable for the higher education environment. We encourage students who are experiencing difficulty paying the costs associated with Honors College enrollment to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/honors.oregonstate.edu\/webform\/hc-differential-tuition-grants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apply<\/a> for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant. Determinations will be made on a rolling basis and will consider both need and the likelihood of earning the Honors Baccalaureate.<strong>&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Inability to pay Honors College differential tuition or other costs this term should not be the primary barrier to any student&#8217;s successful graduation from the college or continuation as an honors student.<\/strong><\/strong>&nbsp;Approved grants may be for the full HC differential tuition (currently $500) or a portion of it and are for one-term only. An interdisciplinary collaboration of scientists from four universities,&nbsp;PISCO&nbsp;integrates long-term monitoring of ecological and oceanographic processes at dozens of coastal sites with experimental work in the lab and field. We explore how individual organisms, populations, and ecological communities vary over space and time. PISCO\u2019s findings are applied to issues of ocean conservation and management and are shared through public outreach and student training programs. The appointee will assist professors, technicians, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students in research on ecosystem dynamics of rocky reef communities and the nearshore ocean along the West Coast. Responsibilities include laboratory and intertidal fieldwork. Shore and lab work includes sample processing, chlorophyll-a analysis of water samples, data entry, making sample devices; maintaining field equipment, preparing field collectors, assisting with instrument calibrations, surveys of intertidal communities, biodiversity and abundance. The&nbsp;Faculty Research Assistant<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>will work with professors, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in research on ecosystem dynamics in rocky intertidal communities and the nearshore ocean along the West Coast. Lavender Celebration &#8211; THIS WEEK<\/strong><br>The 2021 Lavender Celebration&nbsp;will take place <strong>this&nbsp;Thursday, June 10 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. <\/strong>in Remo, with a reception at 6:30 p.m. and a formal program at 7 p.m. Lavender Celebration is the OSU graduation and awards ceremony for LGBTQIA+ students.&nbsp;Guests who wish to attend should register by Wednesday, June&nbsp;9&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/beav.es\/3MY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, which also is the attendance link.<br><br><strong><strong>NEW! Great Move Out Donation Drives &#8211; THIS WEEK<\/strong><br><\/strong>For OSU Students moving out this month:&nbsp;Donate reusable items you no longer need to benefit the local community!&nbsp;Students living off campus can drop off items at the June 12-14 event;&nbsp;those in residence halls can donate in their hall now through the end of finals week.&nbsp;For more information and how-to\u2019s, see the website <a href=\"http:\/\/tiny.cc\/great-move\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.
