Each participant will have full input to help the researcher create an accurate and cohesive story from their interview. Participants will also be asked to provide artistic images which complimented their experience, whether that is art they enjoy or created themselves. This may include poems, pictures, drawings, paintings, screenshots of media feed which are significant to them, collages or any other medium. Ultimately, the artistic images and written versions of the oral history will be compiled into a zine; a self-published, non-commercial print work that will be shared with OSU, likely in an online, PDF format. <\/strong>All Honors College students are invited to a Dean and Friends conversation on changing careers this Thursday, May 20 from noon to 1:00 p.m. <\/strong>with HC grad Tristan Wagner \u201909. Tristan received his HBS in industrial and manufacturing engineering and an MS in industrial engineering in 2010. He then worked as a process engineering manager for Tektronix in their microelectronics factory for ten years. After deciding he wanted to spend more time working with data, he took some time off to develop skills before landing a job with Nike as a data scientist in 2020. Tristan lives in Portland and, during non-pandemic times, enjoys rock climbing and board games. At this dean and friends, he will discuss the process of transitioning to a new career and then beginning that career during a pandemic. If you haven\u2019t already checked it off your list, be sure to enroll in a Stage 1 workshop this term! Starting in fall 2021, Stage 1 will be a one-credit, ten-week course required for all incoming students. <\/strong>We won\u2019t offer the one-hour Stage 1 workshops after spring 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For this oral history honors thesis project, the researcher would like to interview at least five undergraduate students from OSU, with the focus being their experience during the earlier stages of the pandemic to the present. An oral history is a collection of memories and personal commentaries of a historical event through recorded interviews. Generally, each interview will take about an hour, or however long each student needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Honors College is accepting applications for peer mentors! HC peer mentors are current OSU students who have established themselves at the university and the HC for at least one academic school year. The peer mentor experience has a lot to offer you; including boosting your leadership skills, improving your career profile, meeting new people and gaining a fulfilling experience. The Honors College recognizes that this may be a particularly challenging time for Honors College students and their families. We encourage students who are experiencing difficulty paying the costs associated with Honors College enrollment to apply<\/a> for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant. Determinations will be made on a rolling basis and will consider both need and the likelihood of earning the Honors Baccalaureate.
Inability to pay Honors College differential tuition or other costs this term should not be the primary barrier to any student’s successful graduation from the college or continuation as an honors student.<\/strong><\/strong> Approved grants may be for the full HC differential tuition (currently $500) or a portion of it and are for one-term only. Grants will not be renewed for additional terms, but students can reapply. Typically, students can only receive two Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant during their time in the Honors College. <\/em>Impact Studio is where teams of faculty, students and staff develop and launch bold initiatives that advance OSU\u2019s strategic plan and improve the university\u2019s financial strength. OSU Press has just opened up the application period for two student jobs: their annual publishing internship and a student office assistant position. Both positions would be a great opportunity for students interested in publishing. The internship is focused on acquisitions and editorial work and limited to one year, but has the option of summer hours if the intern wants to start before the school year. The office assistant does more administrative work and will start in September, but is open-ended – the current assistant has been with us for more than two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She grew up in LA and is the daughter of immigrants from Fiji.
