Volunteers for HC Thesis: Telling Our Story – The Student Struggle Through the Pandemic
For this oral history honors thesis project, the researcher would like to interview at least five undergraduate students from OSU, with the focus being their experience during the earlier stages of the pandemic to the present. An oral history is a collection of memories and personal commentaries of a historical event through recorded interviews. Generally, each interview will take about an hour, or however long each student needs.

During these interviews, students will be encouraged to share the stressors they encountered and the subsequent methods used to cope with them. Each participant will have full input to help the researcher create an accurate and cohesive story from their interview. Participants will also be asked to provide artistic images which complimented their experience, whether that is art they enjoy or created themselves. This may include poems, pictures, drawings, paintings, screenshots of media feed which are significant to them, collages or any other medium. Ultimately, the artistic images and written versions of the oral history will be compiled into a zine; a self-published, non-commercial print work that will be shared with OSU, likely in an online, PDF format. Students who are interested in volunteering for an interview should email Sydni Burt at burts@oregonstate.edu.

2021 Honors College Awards for Outstanding Professor, Mentor, Community Member or Course – Nominations Open Now!
Did a professor inspire you to greater heights or change your perspective on a subject?
