NEW! Winners & Last Cluster of Winter Term \u2013 The INCOHEAR<\/em>ANT Challenge!<\/strong>
Thank you to everyone who spread joy through images by entering photos into our gallery on Instagram or by submitting a postcard to campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winners from week 9 include Team Avatar, Cream of the Crop, 164, Adventure Time, Biocomputerologists, and Last Three Standing.  We also congratulate Sens8tional, The Offbrand Power Rangers, Team 129, 27 & 53 all with top trivia performances and members winning Amazon gift cards!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that brings us to Week 10 \u2013 our final meeting of the winter term. For this week we have developed an INCOHEAR<\/em>ENT Challenge, with winners receiving the ever-popular Amazon gift card<\/strong>. This week we also ask ALL students to check-in with their cluster. NEW! Project or Thesis Opportunity Around Spatial Analysis (GIS)!<\/strong>
Kevin Bladon, Associate Professor within the College of Forestry, is looking for a student interested in a possible thesis or project around spatial analysis (GIS). This project involves using GIS to identify locations in Oregon that are vulnerable or resistant to the effects of wildfires on aquatic habitats. NEW! OSU Emergency COVID-19 Funding For Students Through CRRSAA
<\/strong>Through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, OSU has emergency funding to award to currently enrolled OSU students. Apply here<\/a>.

CRRSAA eligibility includes:
– Undergraduate, graduate and certificate seeking students enrolled at any of our campuses, including Ecampus.
– You must have a current FAFSA application on file.
– Students will be prioritized by their level of need based on their FAFSA application.
– Eligible expenses include all the components of a student’s cost of attendance or emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care.
– International students, DACA students, and undocumented students are not eligible for this funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW! Share Your OSU Scholarship Experience for Gift Card<\/strong>Let\u2019s improve the scholarship experience at OSU! OSU is working to understand and improve the scholarship experience for continuing undergraduate students, and we need your help. To ensure we\u2019re responding to our students\u2019 needs, we\u2019re looking for 15 participants for a 45-minute individual interview via a Teams meeting within the next few weeks, March 9-26. 

Are you interested in being interviewed? If so, please complete this short interest form<\/a> by Monday, March 8.<\/strong> If you are selected to participate in an interview, you\u2019ll receive an email with details about how to schedule your interview. TODAY! Deadline for Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship<\/strong>
The OSU Alumni Association and Community Engagement & Leadership are excited to accept applications for the Schoenstein Sustaining Excellence Scholarship. This fund was dedicated in order to provide scholarships for OSU students who are in their sophomore, junior or senior year<\/strong>, and who are actively involved in activities beyond coursework; demonstrating that they are committed to learning and contributing outside the classroom to the OSU and\/or local community. This scholarship currently accepts applications through OSU\u2019s Scholar Dollars<\/a> system. Students from all OSU campuses are eligible to apply. The application deadline is now Monday, March 8<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This scholarship will award six students with a one-time scholarship in the amount of $1,000. <\/strong>Award recipients will also have the option<\/em> of being featured in the Create Your Own Story<\/a> story-sharing series coordinated by CEL if they so choose. Award recipients will receive the full $1,000 financial award regardless of whether they decide to be recognized and featured through the CYOS story sharing series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2021-2022 Honors College Continuing Student Scholarships Application<\/strong>
All continuing Honors College students who want to be considered for HC tuition scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year must<\/strong> complete an application to the Oregon State University Honors College Differential Tuition Scholarship in OSU ScholarDollars here<\/a>. This application opened on January 1, 2021, so it may not have been accessible if you were previously in the system. The deadline to apply is April 5, 2021 <\/strong>at 11:59 p.m.<\/strong> Please direct any questions to Kevin Stoller at stollerk@oregonstate.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant<\/strong>
The Honors College recognizes that this may be a particularly challenging time for Honors College students and their families. We encourage students who are experiencing difficulty paying the costs associated with Honors College enrollment to apply<\/a> for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant. Determinations will be made on a rolling basis and will consider both need and the likelihood of earning the Honors Baccalaureate. 

Inability to pay Honors College differential tuition or other costs this term should not be the primary barrier to any student’s successful graduation from the college or continuation as an honors student.<\/strong><\/strong> Approved grants may be for the full HC differential tuition (currently $500) or a portion of it and are for one-term only. Grants will not be renewed for additional terms, but students can reapply. Typically, students can only receive two Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant during their time in the Honors College. See the application<\/a> for additional information.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEXT WEEK! College of Forestry Seeking Student Field Technicians<\/strong>
The Warren Lab at Oregon State University is seeking student field technicians for summer 2021! Research will be part of an ongoing project assessing alternative riparian buffers on managed landscapes. Students will receive hands-on research experience in sampling aquatic food webs, as well as field experience working in remote settings in a small crew. The project leaders are specifically looking for students with a background or interest in fisheries, forestry, ecology, and similar areas of work. TOMORROW! Pandemic as Portal: Lecture with Vanessa Raditz on Queer Resilience During Climate Change<\/strong><\/strong>
The Pandemic as Portal series is a lecture series featuring visionary thinkers from many perspectives as they explore their highest vision of environmental and social justice as the world reconfigures in the midst of the pandemic. Today, Tuesday, March 9 at 6:00 p.m.<\/strong>, Vanessa Raditz will present their talk, “Queer Resilience in the Era of Climate Change.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vanessa Raditz (they\/them) is a queer cultural geographer, educator, and culture-shifter dedicated to community healing, opening access to land and resources and fostering a thriving local economy based on human and ecological resilience. Vanessa is currently the director of the collaborative documentary film Fire & Flood: Queer Resilience in the era of Climate Change. Vanessa is part of the founding collective of the Queer Ecojustice Project, educating and organizing at the intersection of ecological justice and queer liberation. LAST CHANCE! Final Tuition Forum THIS WEEK<\/strong>
The University Budget Committee has been working on tuition recommendations for the 2021-22 academic year. As part of developing recommendations for the Board of Trustees, representatives of the Budget Committee and the Office of Budget and Resource Planning are offering a series of weekly forums to discuss the tuition setting process, tuition rate scenarios for FY22 and to answer any questions about tuition and the university budget. The final forum is Thursday, March 11 from 11 a.m. to noon<\/strong> via Zoom. THIS WEEK! Deadline for Racial Aikido Remote Experience for Students of Color<\/strong>
Racial Aikido explores the experiences of students of color at OSU and beyond. Our focus for the 2021 experience is on community-building, the recognition of identity and racism and response and replenishment to these realities. Our goal is to build a supportive network to learn and thrive at OSU and beyond. Racial Aikido will be a completely remote <\/strong>experience this year. We anticipate using Zoom to facilitate our time together. Final details are still being confirmed on our schedule. We will likely meet on Friday, March 26 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. PST<\/strong> and on Saturday, March 27 at 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PST <\/strong>with multiple breaks in-between that time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
