HC Conversation Clusters Shuffled & Dinner up for Grabs<\/strong>
HC Conversation Clusters have been shuffled for winter term. This means that many of you will see a new cluster assignment or several new members. Those who completed our feedback survey in late fall were placed in conversation clusters matching those requests. Many asked to be grouped by year and by college. Based on feedback we have received, we ask that all students give what they can to these groups, recognizing that for some, these meetings are critical to their well-being and are important to creating a sense of belonging and community.   

To begin winter term, we\u2019ll again focus on getting to know one another, establishing our meeting day, time, and format with the first 100 clusters to complete the initial assignment in canvas receiving dinner on us!<\/strong>

NEW! Vision Board Making with HCSA<\/strong>
Join us for HCSA’s first Zoom meeting of Winter term on Thursday, January 7th at 7pm <\/strong>as we learn how to create effective vision boards and set our eyes on the prize of 2021! You can create a digital vision board online or in-person with the supplies you have at home. Either way, we will be envisioning the best year together! If you would like to join, please register here<\/a> for the zoom link and password. Winter Term HC Virtual Study Groups<\/strong>
Need a way to deepen your understanding of course material, discuss challenging concepts, and study for upcoming exams and assignments with your fellow beavs? Fill out this survey<\/a> to join a winter term HC virtual study group! You will need to complete this survey and indicate your availability by Wednesday, January 13th<\/strong> to be placed in a group. HC 409: Professional & Career Development Course<\/strong>
Interested in preparing for life after college? This professional and career development course is designed to increase your awareness of skills necessary for a successful transition to adulting! It is designed around the importance of understanding the self, identity, and professional values in career development. This course will be offered during Winter 2021<\/strong> for one credit<\/strong> and will be primarily asynchronous, with two meetings scheduled for week 3<\/strong> and week 7<\/strong> from 12:00-12:50 p.m<\/strong>. Forgot Your Lunch Program – Back and Better!<\/strong>
Forgot your lunch and need a snack break while you study? Come to the SLUG (LInC 340) and enjoy some light snacks provided for free by the Honors College! Snacks are located in the SLUG kitchen cabinets near the fridge. Scholarship<\/strong> Opportunities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant<\/strong>
The Honors College recognizes that this may be a particularly challenging time for Honors College students and their families. We encourage students who are experiencing difficulty paying the costs associated with Honors College enrollment to apply<\/a> for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant. Determinations will be made on a rolling basis and will consider both need and the likelihood of earning the Honors Baccalaureate. 

Inability to pay Honors College differential tuition or other costs this term should not be the primary barrier to any student’s successful graduation from the college or continuation as an honors student.<\/strong><\/strong> Approved grants may be for the full HC differential tuition (currently $500) or a portion of it and are for one-term only. Grants will not be renewed for additional terms, but students can reapply. Typically, students can only receive two Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant during their time in the Honors College. See the application<\/a> for additional information.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professional Development and Job Opportunities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

NEW! Apply to be a START Leader for Summer 2021<\/strong>
The START Leader application is now open for admissions, recruiting students for summer 2021. START Leaders serve as an expert orientation resource for incoming students and their families, as well as campus partners and officials. They act as a role model and mentor for new students and facilitate small group sessions of new students. START Leaders also share their own OSU story to build student connection to the university, communicate with students about their transition to OSU and host social events for new students.

COMING SOON! OSU Album Club is Back with “Rumours” Next Month<\/strong>
Join host Bob Santelli in a virtual version of the OSU Album Club on January 11 at 7:00 p.m<\/strong>. The OSU Album Club is similar to a book club, allowing students to listen to and discuss some of the greatest albums ever recorded. It is also free and open to everyone! Host Bob Santelli is the OSU Director of Popular Music and Performing Arts, former exec director of the Grammy Museum in LA, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, and the Experience Music Project (now Museum of Pop Culture) in Seattle. Registration is required and can be done here<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COMING SOON! Virtual Study Hall with Valley Library<\/strong>
Need a place to study during online learning? Want a productive, accountable virtual study space with other students? The Valley Library has created a Virtual Study Hall where you can enjoy the focused atmosphere of work alongside your fellow OSU students. Drop in and study for finals!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winter 2020 Virtual Study Hall hours start January 10, and last between 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. PST, Sunday through Thursday<\/strong>. The Zoom link is here<\/a> and the password is LiveOnline. More information about the study hall can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Postcards to Campus<\/strong>
Postcards to Campus<\/em> is a community art project and display in the Valley Library. Inspired in part by Post Secret<\/a>, this project asks students, staff, and faculty to write a postcard with an anonymous note<\/strong> to campus. Postcards will be displayed in the windows of Valley Library and as a digital exhibit.
