NEW! Celebrating our Concentration Winners & Looking ahead to Conversation Clusters 2.0 in Winter 2021<\/strong>
The Concentration Challenge proved to be a tough one \u2013 just 2 clusters were able to answer all 12 puzzles correctly. Winners of the Amazon gift cards included The Bumblebees & The 132 Crew. Congratulations to our winners and good effort from the 50+ clusters who tackled the challenge!    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you to the nearly 800 students who engaged in their conversation cluster meetings in the fall term. Our community is stronger because of your engagement and we appreciate you making the time.  Looking toward winter, the HC is asking ALL students to complete this survey<\/a>, <\/strong>sharing your thoughts, feedback, and preferences by Wednesday, Dec. 9<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HC 409: Professional & Career Development Course<\/strong>
Interested in preparing for life after college? This professional and career development course is designed to increase your awareness of skills necessary for a successful transition to adulting! It is designed around the importance of understanding the self, identity, and professional values in career development. This course will be offered during Winter 2021<\/strong> for 1 credit<\/strong> and will be primarily asynchronous with just two meetings scheduled for week 3<\/strong> and week 7<\/strong> from 12:00-12:50 p.m<\/strong>. Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant<\/strong>
The Honors College recognizes that this may be a particularly challenging time for Honors College students and their families. We encourage students who are experiencing difficulty paying the costs associated with Honors College enrollment to apply<\/a> for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant. Determinations will be made on a rolling basis and will consider both need and the likelihood of earning the Honors Baccalaureate. 

Inability to pay Honors College differential tuition or other costs this term should not be the primary barrier to any student’s successful graduation from the college or continuation as an honors student.<\/strong><\/strong> Approved grants may be for the full HC differential tuition (currently $500) or a portion of it and are for one-term only. Grants will not be renewed for additional terms, but students can reapply. Typically, students can only receive two Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant during their time in the Honors College. See the application<\/a> for additional information.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TOMORROW! Washington Leadership Program Information Session<\/strong>
The Washington Leadership Program is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications from high-potential South Asian American college students for the 2021 summer leadership program scheduled to take place from Jun. 12, 2021 to Aug. 6, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WLP cultivates the South Asian American community’s next generation of leaders by placing them in congressional offices or federal agencies in Washington, D.C. for eight-week summer internships and a structured leadership-training curriculum. The students gain a firsthand view of the policy-making and legislative process, as well access to high-profile South-Asian leaders in the nation’s capital. The application is available online here<\/a>.<\/strong> The deadline for submitting applications is Jan. 10, 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please follow @TheWLP and the Facebook page<\/a> for additional information that will provide insight for the application process. Though selection is highly competitive, all South Asian American students who are either US citizens or legal permanent residents are encouraged to apply, regardless of academic focus or professional goals.<\/strong> The backgrounds of past participants have ranged from pre-med to art and social work. Interns will receive a total stipend of $2,000 and will be required to complete 2-3 short writing assignments during the internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WLP is hosting two virtual information sessions for you to ask questions about the program and applications. NEW! Undergraduate Resource Fair for Marginalized Mathematicians<\/strong>
This event is an online undergraduate resource fair specifically for underrepresented and marginalized undergraduate mathematicians, for whom it often feels difficult to gather the information needed to build a career. It’s a full-day virtual event with panels and talks given by experienced students and faculty from a number of colleges and universities across the country. And it’s open to any interested students! Registration and information for the event is located here<\/a><\/strong> and a flyer with more details is below. Register on or before Dec. 11. The event is on Dec. 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. PST.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

NEW! OSU Album Club is Back with “Rumours” Next Month<\/strong>
Join host Bob Santelli in a virtual version of the OSU Album Club on Jan. 11 at 7:00 p.m<\/strong>. It’s like a book club, where you listen to and discuss the greatest albums ever recorded, and it’s free and open to everyone! Bob Santelli is the OSU Director of Popular Music and Performing Arts, former exec director of the Grammy Museum in LA, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, and the Experience Music Project (now Museum of Pop Culture) in Seattle. Virtual Study Hall with Valley Library<\/strong>
Need a place to study during online learning? Want a productive, accountable virtual study space with other students? The Valley Library has created a Virtual Study Hall where you can enjoy the focused atmosphere of work alongside your fellow OSU students. Drop in and study for finals!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Postcards to Campus<\/strong>
Postcards to Campus<\/em> is a community art project and display in the Valley Library. Inspired in part by Post Secret<\/a>, this project asks students, staff, and faculty to write a postcard with an anonymous note<\/strong> to campus. Postcards will be displayed in the windows of Valley Library and as a digital exhibit.
