We encourage students who are experiencing difficulty paying the costs associated with Honors College enrollment to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/honors.oregonstate.edu\/webform\/hc-differential-tuition-grants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apply<\/a> for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant. Determinations will be made on a rolling basis and will consider both need and the likelihood of earning the Honors Baccalaureate.<strong>&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Inability to pay Honors College differential tuition or other costs this term should not be the primary barrier to any student&#8217;s successful graduation from the college or continuation as an honors student.<\/strong><\/strong>&nbsp;Approved grants may be for the full HC differential tuition (currently $500) or a portion of it and are for one-term only. Washington Leadership Program Information Session<\/strong><br>The Washington Leadership Program is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications from high-potential South Asian American college students for the 2021 summer leadership program scheduled to take place from Jun. 12, 2021 to Aug. 6, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WLP cultivates the South Asian American community&#8217;s next generation of leaders by placing them in congressional offices or federal agencies in Washington, D.C. for eight-week summer internships and a structured leadership-training curriculum. The students gain a firsthand view of the policy-making and legislative process, as well access to high-profile South-Asian leaders in the nation&#8217;s capital. <strong>The application is available online <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thewlp.com\/apply-to-wlp\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/strong> The deadline for submitting applications is <strong>Jan. 10, 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please follow @TheWLP and the Facebook <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheWLP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">page<\/a> for additional information that will provide insight for the application process. Inspired in part by <a href=\"https:\/\/postsecret.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Post Secret<\/a>, this project asks students, staff, and faculty to <strong>write a postcard with an anonymous note<\/strong> to campus. New Statewide COVID-19 Health &amp; Safety Framework<\/strong><br>Effective Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, Gov. Kate Brown will require a new COVID-19 health and safety&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/govstatus.egov.com\/or-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">framework<\/a>&nbsp;to regulate local activities in Oregon communities based upon the level of virus risk in a county over the past 14 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on level of risk \u2013 extreme, high, moderate and low \u2013 activities are subject to greater or lesser restrictions. County risk levels will be adjusted every two weeks. While the operations of Oregon\u2019s public universities remain guided primarily by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/gov\/admin\/Pages\/eo_20-28.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Executive Order 20-28<\/a>, which requires university adherence to Oregon Health Authority\u2019s (OHA) and Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/highered\/about\/Documents\/News-Updates\/OHA-HECC-higher-education-health-standards-covid-FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Guidance for the Conduct of In-Person Instructional, Residential and Research Activities<\/a>, the Governor\u2019s new health and safety framework will impact some OSU operations, as outlined below. All other functions, such as on-site or field-based research activities, will continue to take place under the existing guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>In-person Instruction:<\/strong>&nbsp;State guidance on in-person instruction and on-campus residential and research activities has been updated, limiting in-person instruction to a maximum of 25 people (including instructor) for counties that are in the \u201cextreme risk\u201d category. While this change has minimal impact for the remainder of fall term, it will affect in-person classes particularly in Corvallis for winter term, should at any time Benton County be at \u201cextreme risk.\u201d The OSU Continuity Management Team, in consultation with academic units, is currently reviewing the implications of this new restriction on winter term in-person courses. No changes have been made to guidance for residential and research activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Other University Operations Under New Framework:<\/strong>&nbsp;Where university operations fall outside the HECC guidance on in-person instruction, residential and research activities (e.g., dining and child-care facilities), state Sector Guidelines continue to apply, and will be adjusted based on any changes within a county risk level. University operations that follow sector guidance should use the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us\/DHSForms\/Served\/le3461.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sector Risk Level Guidance Chart<\/a>&nbsp;to guide their operations as county risk levels fluctuate, as well as continue to use existing OHA Sector Guidelines. We expect updated OHA guidance for each sector to be provided soon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recreational Facilities:<\/strong>&nbsp;Following the Sector Risk Level Guidance, if Benton or Deschutes counties are at \u201cextreme risk,\u201d Dixon Recreation Center, the OSU Tennis Pavilion, and the OSU-Cascades fitness center must be closed. Currently, Benton County is designated \u201chigh risk,\u201d meaning Dixon Recreation Center and associated facilities will be open beginning Dec. 3, 2020, but with limited capacity. This does not include occupancy associated with non-fitness functions within Dixon Recreation Center, such as Our Little Village. Deschutes County is designated \u201cextreme risk\u201d at this time, which does not allow for the reopening of OSU-Cascades fitness center. Please visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/recsports.oregonstate.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Recreational Sports website<\/a>&nbsp;for the up-to-date status of recreational facilities, sports and activities on the Corvallis campus. The physical distancing policy also requires that&nbsp;employees&nbsp;who have been physically onsite at an OSU location at any time in the previous 14 days must notify their supervisor if they believe that within that time they have been exposed to COVID-19; if they have symptoms of COVID-19; if they have been&nbsp;diagnosed with COVID-19; or if they have had a positive COVID-19 test result.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Updated Communicable Disease Response Plan:&nbsp;<\/strong>COVID-19 case counts across the nation and in our own communities are climbing at alarming rates. Rapid communication of potential exposure is critical to minimizing exposure. OSU has processes in place to respond to positive cases within the university community.
