Update: <\/strong>due to ongoing issues with the card readers, the access code emailed to Honors College students at the beginning of the term will continue to allow access to the LInC during hours when the SLUG is open and the LInC is closed via the north side entrance until further notice. When entering and exiting after hours, be sure external doors close and latch. Violation of rules, bringing in non-honors students after hours, or sharing the passcode may result in suspension of after-hours privileges for the entire HC community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Capacity in the SLUG is restricted to 40 students, with check-in and check-out required. Students will be expected to clean up all surfaces they have been in contact with upon departure using the cleaning products provided. <\/strong>All Honors College students are invited to a special Dean and Friends event with SreyRam Kuy, the Honors College\u2019s 2020 OSU Alumni Association Alumni Fellow<\/a> on Monday, Oct. 19, noon-1:00 p.m.<\/strong> Dr. Kuy graduated from OSU in 2000 with degrees in philosophy and microbiology. She went on to earn her MD at Oregon Health and Science University and her Master of Health Science degree at Yale University, where she also completed her fellowship. She has served as special advisor to the U.S. Veteran Affairs Secretary and Deputy Under-Secretary for Community Care, overseeing a $14.5 billion budget and 7,300 staff. Before this, she was Louisiana Medicaid\u2019s Chief Medical Officer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>Honors College mixers are an excellent way to connect with faculty members, learn more about their research, and potentially get involved in projects that could be the basis of an HC thesis. Even if you don\u2019t yet feel ready to begin research or are not sure about your interests, attending these events help you to explore opportunities and make connections<\/strong>. Dress in attire you are comfortable making a first impression with. Be prepared to discuss your research interests and\/or academic background. Dr. Wall currently cares for patients in the emergency departments at Harborview Medical Center and Seattle Children\u2019s Hospital, and she serves as the associate pediatric medical director for Airlift Northwest. She received her MPH and MD from The Ohio State University and her MSCE from the University of Pennsylvania. During this hour, she will discuss her career and her experience practicing emergency medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Honors College recognizes that this may be a particularly challenging time for Honors College students and their families. We encourage students who are experiencing difficulty paying the costs associated with Honors College enrollment to apply<\/a> for a one-term Honors College Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant. Determinations will be made on a rolling basis and will consider both need and the likelihood of earning the Honors Baccalaureate.
Inability to pay Honors College differential tuition or other costs this term should not be the primary barrier to any student’s successful graduation from the college or continuation as an honors student.<\/strong><\/strong> Approved grants may be for the full HC differential tuition (currently $500) or a portion of it and are for one-term only. Grants will not be renewed for additional terms, but students can reapply. Typically, students can only receive two Differential Tuition and Emergency Grant during their time in the Honors College. The Student Budget Advisory Council is a student group that serves in an advisory role to the University Budget Committee. The SBAC gives students the chance to engage with peers to provide input, raise issues and ask questions about OSU\u2019s tuition, fees, finances and budget priorities. The University Budget Committee considers the students’ input an important part of tuition and budget decision processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
