The Honors College Thesis Success in Stages (TheSIS) guide is designed to support students as they work toward completion of their HC thesis. The first stage in this process, Plan, provides an introduction to the thesis requirements and an outline of thesis resources for students. This stage has two components: a 45-minute introductory workshop and a Thesis Map. All HC students are encouraged and expected to complete this stage within their first three terms in the HC.

The Honors College has launched a \u201cForgot your lunch?\u201d station for you to have a snack or light lunch if you ever need it. Whether you need food because you forgot your lunch, are low on money, or simply need a snack – please help yourself to this free resource. <\/strong>The resource is self-serving and can be accessed any time that the SLUG is open in the kitchen area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The HC is currently accepting nominations for students to feature in our Student Spotlight series. If you know of a student who you think deserves recognition for their studies, research, service, or any other reason, please submit their name and the reason for the nomination at the form located here<\/a>. We\u2019ll contact selected students for permission to share their nomination and to schedule a short interview.Self-nominations are welcome! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Honors College will be taking interested students to visit the Port of Portland (PDX) on Friday, January 24. The group will depart from Corvallis at 12:30 p.m. and return no later than 6:00 p.m. Both transportation and lunch will be provided to students for free.
Jayson Shanafelt will be hosting our group at Port of Portland for an exciting afternoon of behind-the-scenes tours of the internal operations of the airport including the airfield, the Oregon Air National Guard base, and other facilities that help to keep the airport operations moving smoothly. Attention second-year undergraduates, mentors, and advisors! The NOAA Office of Education is accepting applications for two scholarship opportunities for second-year undergraduates. The NOAA Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship and NOAA Educational Partnership with Minority Serving Institutions (EPP\/MSI) Scholarship are now open to apply through January 31, 2020<\/strong>. These generous scholarships award students with academic assistance ($9,500 per year in junior and senior year) and a 10-week, full-time paid summer internship at any NOAA facility nationwide, with travel expenses included. Students accepted into the EPP\/MSI scholarship will be awarded two 10-week, full-time paid summer internships. Through a generous gift by Dr. Kim Eagle, the Honors College is pleased to offer a paid internship with the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (MCORRP). This summer internship program is a 10-week opportunity, starting in the first week of June and concluding in the first week of August at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. The internship includes a stipend, as well as a housing and travel allowance. To apply students should be interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and be a strong steward of OSU and the Honors College. The Washington Leadership Program (WLP) is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications from high-potential South Asian American college students for the 2020 summer leadership program scheduled to take place from June 13, 2020 to August 7, 2020.
WLP cultivates the South Asian American community’s next generation of leaders by placing them in congressional offices or federal agencies in Washington, D.C. for eight-week summer internships and a structured leadership-training curriculum. The students gain a firsthand view of the policy-making and legislative process, as well as gain access to high-profile South-Asian leaders in the nation’s capital. Though selection to the WLP is highly competitive, all South Asian American students who are either US citizens or legal permanent residents are encouraged to apply, regardless of academic focus or professional goals. The backgrounds of past participants have ranged from medical school to art and business.
Interns will receive a total stipend of $2,000 and will be required to complete 2-3 short writing assignments during the internship.
The WLP has over 200 alumni who have interned for notable elected officials including Sen. Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY), Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA). Alumni have gone on to win Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright, and Truman Scholarships, as well as acceptances into top-flight medical, law, public policy, and other post-graduate programs. Several alums are currently senior advisors to government officials, and one is an elected State Representative in Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\nCampus-Wide Opportunities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
