The 2018 HC thesis fair was a huge success. Thesis posters were on display throughout the Learning Innovation Center (LInC) and the hallways were buzzing with excitement over this year\u2019s projects. Congratulations to all HC graduates.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

2018 thesis poster winners are:<\/p>\n

In the Engineering<\/strong> category –  Jonathan Su<\/strong>, \u201cCharacterizing Bioactivity and Biocompatibility of Coatings for Endotoxin Capture in Treatment of Sepsis<\/a>,\u201d mentored by Dr. Kate Schilke within Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering.<\/p>\n

Within the Humanities<\/strong>, co-sponsored by the OSU Center for the Humanities – Catherine Mina<\/strong>, \u201cThe Women’s March 2017: Predicting Participation in an Unprecedented Protest<\/a>,\u201d mentored by Dr. Kelsy Kretschmer within Sociology.<\/p>\n

In the category of Science<\/strong> –  Kathryn Chen, <\/strong>\u201cA Robust Mycobacterium smegmatis Assay to Identify Anti-tubercular Novel Natural Products<\/a>,\u201d mentored by Dr. Sandra Loesgen within Chemistry.<\/p>\n

In the category of Social Science and Business<\/strong> –  Aimee Miller<\/strong>, \u201cEfficacy of the Wellness Focused “Be Orange Challenge” with Tracking to Promote Healthy Behavior Change<\/a>\u201d mentored by Dr. Emily Tomayko within Nutrition.<\/p>\n

A special thank you goes to HC students  Dillon Koch, Katrina Hiebel, Calvin Kocher, Jeremy Banka, Kevin Bishop, True Gibson, and Ibrahim Moussaoui who participated in the first ever HC Lightining Talk competition.<\/p>\n

In the Engineering<\/strong> category is Kevin Bishop<\/strong>, \u201cA CMOS-Based Microfluidic Cell Counter,\u201d mentored by Dr. Matthew Johnston within Electrical and Computer Engineering.<\/p>\n

In Science<\/strong> we recognize True Gibson, <\/strong>\u201cA Bayesian Solution to the “Replication Crisis” in Science\u201d, mentored by Dr. Jonathan Kaplan within Philosophy and Katrina Hiebel, <\/strong>\u201cAcupuncture increases matrix metalloproteinase type-2 enzyme activity in bovine caruncles after calving,\u201d mentored by Dr. Michelle Kutzler in Animal and Rangeland Sciences.<\/p>\n

In the category of Humanities, Social Science and Business<\/strong> our selected winner was Calvin Kocher<\/strong>, \u201cAn Examination of the Roles of the Guaran\u00ed and Spanish Languages in the Cultural Identity of Paraguayan Migrants in Greater Buenos Aires,\u201d mentored by Dr. Joan Gross within Anthropology.<\/p>\n
