Associate Professor David S. Hurwitz nominated Wyman for the award, which honors a CCE student who best exemplifies the knowledge, attitude and work ethic expected of graduating seniors. She recently defended her HC thesis, \u201cImplications of Red Signal Countdown Timers on Visual Attention of Oregon Drivers\u201d and has conducted research with CCE professors <a href=\"http:\/\/cce.oregonstate.edu\/cox\">Daniel Cox<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/web.engr.oregonstate.edu\/~hurwitzd\/\">David Hurwitz<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/cce.oregonstate.edu\/wang\">Haizhong Wang<\/a>. In addition to her studies, Wyman was a teaching assistant in Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Engineering, an intern at DKS Associates and the host of a weekly radio program on KBVR Corvallis. Her academic honors and awards include an Honors Promise Scholarship, an OSU Presidential Scholarship and a Dean\u2019s Engineering Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hurwitz, Wyman is an outstan<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/honorslink\/2017\/07\/27\/civil-engineering-student-of-the-year\/cce_grad_celeb_0617-18\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2845\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2845 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/honorslink\/files\/2017\/06\/cce_grad_celeb_0617-18-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/1811\/files\/2017\/06\/cce_grad_celeb_0617-18-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/1811\/files\/2017\/06\/cce_grad_celeb_0617-18-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/1811\/files\/2017\/06\/cce_grad_celeb_0617-18-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/1811\/files\/2017\/06\/cce_grad_celeb_0617-18.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/a>ding recipient of this award: \u201cAmy is an exemplary undergraduate student. Her ability to rapidly produce creative solutions to complicated multidisciplinary problems is remarkable. Beyond her personal achievement in the classroom and laboratory she regularly gave of her time to help other students excel, which is the sign of a future leader and mentor.
