Emily, a recent Animal Sciences graduate, received the 2015 Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship, a $5,000 award for students entering the first year of graduate or professional study.
The Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society recognizes academic excellence, and has had a chapter at Oregon State since 1924. The Graduate Fellowship requires nominations, and the competition is nation-wide. Emily was also awarded with the National Science Foundation Scholarship, which is administered by the University Honors College (UHC).
Emily was one of the first graduates of the Pre-Veterinary Scholars Program at Oregon State, which is a collaboration between the HC and the College of Veterinary Medicine. For her Honors thesis, she analyzed in vitro neutrophil functions in alpacas. She plans to attend the College of Veterninary Medicine at OSU this fall to pursue large animal internal medicine.
