Aimee Dávila Hisey, a Ph.D. candidate in the history and philosophy of science program has a new review of a digital humanities database published in the flagship history of science journal, ISIS.
An editor of ISIS solicited Hisey to conduct an analysis of the History of Science in Latin America and the Caribbean (HOSLAC) database. Hisey was hand-selected for this review due to her expertise. Specifically, the database encompasses her two primary areas of focus–history of science and technology and history of Latin America; and she has personal experience with this kind of project. Presently, Hisey is constructing a digital humanities database similar to HOSLAC.
The review process turned out to be a mutually beneficial process. Hisey currently serves as an instructor at OSU’s ecampus as part of her graduate school funding. In her course, students need to routinely access primary sources. HOSLAC will serve as an additional repository she can direct her students to when they need these kinds of materials.
Currently Hisey has no other pending reviews. She has decided to prioritize her dissertation and has recently begun a “writing year.”
Congratulations Aimee.
