Blog Post #1

This quarter I am taking my final course, Capstone Project, to complete a BS in Computer Science through Oregon State University. The post baccalaureate CS program went by incredibly fast, and I am sad that my school journey will end soon. I enjoy being in school and I enjoy learning. I am most interested in full-time job roles that have a variety of learning opportunities since professional and personal growth are essential for my long-term job satisfaction.

Knowledge has to be improved, challenged, and increased constantly, or it vanishes.”

Peter Drucker

During the process of project selection for the capstone course, I thought about how important it is that I identify what motivates me. I get excited about a lot of topics, and I tend to want to do everything. Unfortunately, there is insufficient time to do and learn it all. I must be diligent about paring down my interests and focus on either what motivates me the most or focus on tasks that are essential to meet my current learning and career goals. In choosing a project it is very important that I can learn a new technology. I will be working with some amazing team members and my hope is that we can integrate one of the new technologies that I will be learning soon. I recently accepted a full-time job offer and am excited to learn Django, VueJS, and PostgreSQL which are all new to me. I hope to use at least one of these this quarter and I am extremely excited to start on the capstone project!
