In a position that really matters to the business, that kind of steady effort is something I’d value a lot.

That said, there are jobs where someone like Avery would be the better choice. For example, if you’re hiring for something creative, like designing a marketing campaign or developing a new product, you’d want someone who can think outside the box and occasionally deliver something amazing. Even if they’re not consistent, their big ideas could make a huge impact.

On the flip side, someone like Jaime is perfect for jobs that require being reliable every day. Think of roles like customer service, bookkeeping, or managing day-to-day operations. These jobs need someone dependable and steady. You don’t need them to be a superstar; you just need to trust that they’ll do good work consistently.

In the end, the “right” person really depends on the type of job. But if I had to choose for an essential, everyday role in my company, I’d pick Jaime because being able to count on someone day in and day out is priceless.

If I were a business owner choosing between Avery and Jaime, I’d go with Jaime.
