I still remember using my first computer in 2003, which was a family desktop computer, one of those big old honking computers with all the nostalgic elements of old school computers. I was fascinated by how easily it was to navigate through things, and how natural it came to me to type and to find out new ways to utilize various programs.

Fast forward to 2005, and I opened my first Myspace account. My official first foray in something “software development” related was in Myspace themes development, and I also eventually moved on to Tumblr themes! This has really solidified my love for full-stack development, and for incrementally developing features that would eventually be a part of a bigger picture.

After graduating with my Psychology degree in 2019 at UC Irvine, I worked as a linguist recruiter for a fairly small company, and that definitely opened my eyes as to how much new technology is needed in every aspect of life. In my initial degree I was also exposed to MATLAB and also some minor scripting with Python to automate some basic tasks.

The “Now” and The “Future”

I am currently a full-time student and currently applying to full-time jobs, but I am networking as much as possible and trying to stay on top of everything! I have to say, after going through the half of the program I still felt somewhat lost, but now that I am nearing the end of the program I definitely feel like things are coming together. I especially enjoyed that we got a wide variety of classes that were mostly applicable, and also have access to very interesting electives as well! Through this program, I am glad that we got exposure to many of the lower-level languages as well as higher-level languages, and had a few classes with pretty interesting portfolio pieces as well!

It has also been amazing to be able to see the impact of AI/ML on the current tech world, and also on how it can be incorporated for this program as well. As for post-graduation, I will mainly be looking for fullstack development, but I would also love to do something with big data or AI as well.

Outside of school and job prepping, I like to read, try new boba/food places, and watch shows and movies. I also really love languages and culture, and can often be seen looking up random new facts or topics that pique my interest.

Anyway congratulations to everyone for making it this far! We are at the home stretch. Looking forward to a great quarter with you all!

How I Started As a child, I have always liked tinkering with computers and testing the limits of what each computer can do.
