Hello everyone!
My name is Mohammad Haider, and I am currently in Houston, Texas. I prevoiusly got my degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech. Ever since graduating, I have been working in the Plastics Manufacturing industry.
I decided to pursure a degree in Computer Science becuase I thought it would be a correct fit for my career. My industry is making a rapid shift towards automation with many of our facilities having the goal to be fully automated. I have always been interested in Computer Science but had never been given the opportunity to explore it. I found that the OSU program was that perfect opportunity! The flexibility of being able to complete the entire program online was a major major selling point for me.
I would tell the 5 year old me about all my adventures throughout the past few years, especially traveling related. Honestly, 5 year old me was glued in picture books looking at different places on earth and imagining what he would do if he was there.
The last TV show I binged watched was Season 2 of Alex Rider. We literally watched it in about 2 days because it was just that good! It was special for me though because I had read all of the books so for me it was a whole different experience as compared to the rest of the family.
There is so much to do in Houston!! I would recomment the Nasa space center, a trip to Galveston, Exploring Downtown, Going to one of our public parks and reserves. Just to name a few! there is just too much to do in Houston.
If I was to go back in time, I would definately choose Computer Science as my undergraduate degree. Mainly becasue of how fast the industry is growing. When I was making my career choice as a Chemical Engineer all of those years back, the graphs and charts that I had saw had growth faster than Computer Science. So even though I considered Computer Science, I went with Chemical Engineering. Thankfully for me it worked out very well but I do know I got lucky.
I am still unclear as to what I want to do after graduation but I do know that I want to do something that incorporates Software Development into Chemical Engineering. Time will tell though as to where the industry will go! I just hope that whatever I am doing, I truly enjoy my role.
Lastly, here is a picture of me less than a week ago half way across the world in Egypt doing what I love to do the most! Traveling!!
