{"id":712,"date":"2022-02-03T13:39:54","date_gmt":"2022-02-03T13:39:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/rxpracticum\/?page_id=710"},"modified":"2025-12-15T19:31:43","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T19:31:43","slug":"what-to-bring","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/guardschool\/what-to-bring\/","title":{"rendered":"What to Bring"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>You are individually and personally responsible for providing the following for your use during field exercises:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sturdy leather lugged boots, at least 8&#8243; in height (no tennis shoes, nothing that will melt)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leather gloves (well fitting)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leather (or other fire resistant) belt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cotton, other non-synthetic, or fire resistant undergarments and socks (to wear under PPE clothing)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rain jacket (does not need to be fire resistant)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water bottles (at least two quarts combined capacity)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any personal medications you may require (including epinephrine if applicable)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pen\/pencil\/paper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal snacks and lunch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A change of clothing for the ride home and a trash bag for your dirty gear<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fire pack (if you have one) or other pack for carrying food, water, rain gear, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PPE requirements (provide your own if possible, but we have loaners)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nomex or other fire resistant shirt and pants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fire-rated hardhat with chin strap<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> we have about 30 sets of Nomex (shirts\/pants) and hardhats that we can loan. We will make them available prior to field sessions.
