Front To Back

So the countdown begins! I still can’t believe the end of this course is in just three weeks. I know I always mention it, but the pace of this class always catches me off guard. Now it is finally crunch time to finish up our project.

The app has been coming along quite nicely. I spent the majority of this course working on the front-end of the user interface, but now it is time to connect it to the back-end. Our database is set up and ready to rock. I’ve started querying the database and displaying the data on the front-end. This part is very exciting and makes it feel much more real. Working with dummy data in a JSON file is all well and good, but there is a certain fulfillment when you’re actually interacting with a database. It makes the application more dynamic and starts feeling like a deployable product.

The back-end is an AWS Amplify product with GraphQL. It seems like everyone is talking about AWS these days, so I am super excited to dip my toes in the water. Even if it’s just a little resume booster, I’ll take it. Learning AWS and React Native has been really exciting and I’m even more excited to add a project to my portfolio as well as adding it to my portfolio. It also makes me realize I’ll need to continue adding to my portfolio after graduation. That makes me a little nervous since I won’t have a specific goal or timeline. Just my own ideas and discipline…

We are on the homestretch and it’s time to really show off what we can do. I can’t start celebrating just yet. But soon enough.

Until next time,

Max
