Somehow we are nearly halfway through this course… It does not feel like we only have a few weeks left at all. After two and a half years, I am still surprised at how quickly a quarter goes by. My first degree was semester based which seemed to drag on forever. At this point in a semester we would be about done with our first quiz. The rapidness of a quarter system is definitely nice since it doesn’t drag on, but it also feels rushed and finishes abruptly.
It seems like our project is really coming along and picking up steam, which is great, but it would almost be nice to have more time to really knock our project out of the park. We have been making great headway and adding lots of features to our app. It’s been really nice building an app from scratch and seeing it take shape. Since this is my first mobile app, I was really nervous I wouldn’t know what to do. Luckily, I’ve been picking it up fairly quickly, but feel like I can’t learn fast enough. I think that is why I want the term to last a little longer – so I can learn more and make a better product.
My team has been great to work with and we all have a similar personality and coding flow. It’s been nice being able to learn on a team member for help while also being able to help another at times. I’m not quite sure if I could have done any of this on my own in such a short time frame. I probably would have opted for a web app since that is more my swim lane. But it has been great stretching my skills for this project and I plan to do more mobile development going forward.
Well, folks, it has been a wild first few weeks and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! With just a few short weeks to go, I will be done with the capstone and this program (don’t worry I won’t shed too many tears). Soon these twelve hour days behind a screen will be over with. But until then, I must soldier on.
