US Forest Service Forestry Technicians are Wildland Firefighters but are not classified as such. Current pay and benefit disparities, coupled with critical issues threatening both the mental and physical health of Forestry Technicians, have become evident. The largest and most experienced wildland firefighting force is on a dangerous and unsustainable course with rising costs, workforce erosion, and there is no significant action being taken to remedy the situation
