Artistry

Computer graphics have always intrigued me, but I’ve always been cautious as I’m not super artistic. This past quarter, I took my first graphics class. In getting my feet wet, I learned the concept is much more complex than I once thought. Based on video game concept art and other artwork on the internet, I very wrongly assumed the realm of graphics purely relied on great artistry. Much to my surprise, I learned that there’s a substantial amount of coding involved. And math. Lots of math. Moving parts tend to complicate things quite a bit in graphics, and moving parts in 3D were even more complex. All in all, I learned that there is a world in computer graphics that requires a skilled hand, but a totally different world that requires a skilled programmer or team of programmers.
