{"id":2909,"date":"2019-03-01T14:11:36","date_gmt":"2019-03-01T22:11:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/fernhopper\/?p=2909"},"modified":"2019-03-01T14:11:36","modified_gmt":"2019-03-01T22:11:36","slug":"ever-heard-of-osus-cof-transfer-professional-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/fernhopper\/2019\/03\/01\/ever-heard-of-osus-cof-transfer-professional-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Ever Heard of OSU&#8217;s CoF Transfer Professional Program?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2910\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/fernhopper\/files\/2019\/03\/Capture.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"619\" height=\"60\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/ferm.forestry.oregonstate.edu\/application-professional-programs-forestry-and-forest-engineering#overlay-context=application-professional-programs-forestry-and-forest-engineering\">application for admission to the professional program<\/a> in OSU\u2019s Forestry, Forest Engineering, and Forest Engineering-Civil Engineering programs is now available!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the Professional Program? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Several majors in OSU\u2019s College of Forestry (Forestry, Forest Engineering, and Forest Engineering\/Civil Engineering) have a pre\/pro model.\u00a0 The pre-professional courses span the freshman and sophomore years, and the professional courses (or \u201cpro school\u201d) span the junior and senior years.\u00a0 Anyone can declare a Pre-Forestry or Pre-Forest Engineering major.\u00a0 Moving to the professional program requires a special application process which is normally completed during spring of the sophomore year.\u00a0 Admission to the professional program is based upon:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completion of all the <a href=\"https:\/\/ferm.forestry.oregonstate.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/upload_files\/Courses%20required%20for%20Pro.pdf\">required pre-professional courses<\/a> by September 10, 2019<\/li>\n<li>Grades of C or higher and a minimum GPA of 2.25 or higher in all the pre-professional courses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who Should Apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You should apply to the College of Forestry\u2019s professional program if you meet ALL the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You plan to transfer to OSU\u2019s Corvallis campus for fall 2019<\/li>\n<li>You plan to major in Forestry, Forest Engineering, or Forest Engineering-Civil Engineering<\/li>\n<li>You will complete all the required pre-professional courses in your major by September 10, 2019.\u00a0 You can consult our <a href=\"http:\/\/undergrad.forestry.oregonstate.edu\/advising\/transfer-credit\">Transfer Guides<\/a> to determine how your courses apply to the requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>NOTE: students are welcome to transfer to OSU at any time.\u00a0 If you have not yet completed all the pre-professional courses for your major, you can still transfer to OSU as a Pre-Forestry or Pre-Forest Engineering major and complete them here.\u00a0 Then you can apply to the Pro-School in a future year.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/admissions\/static\/transfer_students.html\">Apply for transfer admission<\/a> to OSU\u2019s Corvallis campus.\u00a0 Declare a major in Pre-Forestry, Pre-Forest Engineering, or Pre-Forest Engineering\/Civil Engineering.\u00a0 If you aren\u2019t admitted to OSU, you won\u2019t be able to complete the application for the College of Forestry Pro-School. Transfer applications for fall 2019 are being accepted now.\u00a0 If you haven\u2019t already applied, you should do so ASAP!<\/li>\n<li>Once you are admitted to OSU and have an OSU ID number, you need to complete the <a href=\"http:\/\/ferm.forestry.oregonstate.edu\/application-professional-programs-forestry-and-forest-engineering\">College of Forestry\u2019s Pro-School application<\/a>.\u00a0 The preferred deadline to apply for fall 2019 Pro-School admission is April 15, 2019 (11:59 pm Pacific).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>FAQ\u2019s<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>What are the required pre-professional courses for my major?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Consult the <a href=\"http:\/\/undergrad.forestry.oregonstate.edu\/advising\/majors-advising-guides\">Advising Guide for your major<\/a> to find the required pre-professional courses.\u00a0 You may find our <a href=\"http:\/\/undergrad.forestry.oregonstate.edu\/advising\/transfer-credit\">Transfer Guides<\/a> useful as well.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>What if I won\u2019t have all the required pre-professional courses complete by September 10, 2019?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students are only admitted to Pro-School if they have completed ALL the required pre-professional courses satisfactorily.\u00a0 If you are missing courses, you may need to apply to Pro-School for a future year.\u00a0 We encourage students to work with their academic advisor (and to contact us at <a href=\"mailto:forestry.proschool@oregonstate.edu\">forestry.proschool@oregonstate.edu<\/a> ) to determine the best timeline for Pro-School application.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Can I apply to the professional program for a later term (e.g. winter, spring, summer)?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students can only enter Pro-School in the fall term.\u00a0 We do not admit students to Pro-School for winter\/spring\/summer terms.\u00a0 This is due to the sequential nature of the Pro-School coursework and the need to begin those sequences in the fall.\u00a0 Entry to the Pre-Forestry and Pre-Engineering majors is unrestricted, and students can begin the pre-professional courses in any term.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Who do I contact if I have questions?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Questions about the Pro-School application process can be sent to <a href=\"mailto:forestry.proschool@oregonstate.edu\">forestry.proschool@oregonstate.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>When will I know if I\u2019ve been admitted to Pro-School?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Admission decisions will be communicated via email (to the email address you list on your application) by May 1, 2019.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>When does Field School start?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Field School will be Wednesday, September 11th \u2013 Tuesday, September 24<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The application for admission to the professional program in OSU\u2019s Forestry, Forest Engineering, and Forest Engineering-Civil Engineering programs is now available!
