Our ranch started in 1944, and I am a fourth-generation cattle rancher. We run about 200 head of cattle and we also raise pigs. I have &#8220;3\u00bd&#8221; horses \u2013 when you count my Shetland pony. In July of 2019, I was working at a farm stand and\u00a0a woman\u00a0walked\u00a0in with\u00a0a dog\u00a0and\u00a0asked me if I wanted her.\u00a0She had\u00a0found her on the side of a road and couldn\u2019t keep her.\u00a0So,\u00a0I took\u00a0her\u00a0home, and the rest is history!\u00a0Ivy\u00a0is a\u00a02-year-old Australian shepherd\u00a0and she\u2019s\u00a0my best friend, we do almost everything together. She loves adventure. She rides horses,\u00a0four-wheelers,\u00a0riding\u00a0lawn mowers, tractors, mopeds, and does everything in between. She\u2019s such a fun dog and I am so lucky to have her.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">This June I graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in\u00a0agricultural\u00a0science and minors in\u00a0crop and\u00a0animal\u00a0science. This fall I am headed to the\u00a0agricultural\u00a0education\u00a0master\u2019s program here at\u00a0OSU\u00a0to become an extension agent!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">When I was younger,\u00a0I was in 4-H and FFA in Linn County.\u00a0I showed horses and sold pigs to pay for my horse obsession. I knew that the OSU Extension\u00a0Service helped put on the fair, but I really didn&#8217;t know much more than that. When I was a junior\u00a0at OSU, I enrolled in a class titled \u201cIntro to Extension and Engagement.\u201d\u00a0During this course we learned about different programs of\u00a0OSU\u00a0Extension and met some of the agents in each program. After\u00a0the\u00a0class ended, I was hooked and knew\u00a0that\u00a0I wanted to pursue Extension as my career.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-260\" src=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/3908\/files\/2021\/06\/studnick-horses-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/3908\/files\/2021\/06\/studnick-horses-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/3908\/files\/2021\/06\/studnick-horses-768x508.jpg 768w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/3908\/files\/2021\/06\/studnick-horses.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Most of\u00a0my life has been spent in the agriculture industry, and\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0just been\u00a0so\u00a0inspired by farmers, ranchers,\u00a0Extension agents\u00a0for\u00a0their love and passion of making the world a better place.\u00a0This\u00a0is why I decided to pursue a career in\u00a0Extension, specifically in the agriculture field. Interacting with my community and listening to their stories, challenges, or successes in their farms and ranches makes me motivated to\u00a0lend\u00a0a helping hand in whatever needs they might have. Overall,\u00a0I want to make a difference in every person&#8217;s life I may cross, which is why Extension is the perfect path for me!\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">This summer I will be an intern with Chrissy Lucas, who is the\u00a0Extension\u00a0groundwater\u00a0quality\u00a0outreach\u00a0program\u00a0coordinator\u00a0in the Willamette Valley.
