Hello! My name is Olivia Wilde. I am going into my sophomore year pursuing a\u00a0bachelor of fine arts\u00a0in studio art as well as a minor in Spanish. I plan to become an art teacher in the future teaching high school, and eventually I hope to teach at a college level! I have not had any experience with Extension previously, but I am excited to get to know Extension and how it\u00a0impacts\u00a0our community.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This summer, I am working with Klamath County\u2019s Master Gardener program alongside Nicole Sanchez, the horticulture and entomology specialist in our Extension office.\u00a0I have always loved plants and bugs, so I am very excited to learn more about both of these subjects!\u00a0As an instructor, Nicole also has a wealth of knowledge in teaching, especially with diverse audiences. I know I will learn a lot about teaching, which is perfect for my future career plans! I am already delving into making educational\u00a0content as\u00a0one of my long-term projects. Our Master Gardener program provides fun and educational activity kits that give the community knowledge on a range of topics. My project is to create several new kits that approach new topics, engage wide\u00a0audiences\u00a0and are comfortable for our Master Gardener volunteers. I have already started working on these kits, which has been\u00a0a very interesting\u00a0and educational experience so far!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Near the end of my internship, I will be hosting an \u201cActivity Kit Day\u201d to introduce Master\u00a0Gardeners to the new kits, as well as\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0the other kits. I am\u00a0greatly looking\u00a0forward to this day as it will be the culmination of all my work in this internship and that will be a great achievement!
