Our plans for the Summer 2020 ethnographic field school have changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now it will be an exciting exercise in virtual ethnography focusing on stories of solidarity and resilience during the pandemic. We will be collecting stories and depositing them in the ‘Culture of Care’ depository that a network of university and community partners are developing. These stories will profile representations of how communities cope in a time of crisis. Join us this summer!

We are happy to announce that a forum to discuss opportunities for multidisciplinary engagement with Open Streets Corvallis will take place on February the 27th 2020 at the Corvallis Public Library. The keynote speaker at the event will be Dr. Adonia Lugo, a national leader on equity and mobility, urban human infrastructure, and bicycling advocacy. Dr. Lugo is an anthropologist and faculty member in the Urban Sustainability program at Antioch University. To learn more about this event, visit the Corvallis Open Streets website here.
The first meeting of the field school study circle took place on Wednesday November the 13th at 12:00 pm in Waldo 206. The students Argenis Hurtado Moreno, Emily Slavik, and Trey Webb joined this inaugural session. We watched a short video on Open Streets Corvallis (https://youtu.be/_nxmMHmaRhc) and discussed possible research questions that can guide data collection. In the next meeting we will continue discussing the research questions and will start talking about methods.
