Before applying for licensure, ESOL endorsement candidates must pass the NES English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) exam.
For additional information about this assessment, consult the Oregon Educator Licensure Assessments (ORELA) website.
If you look at the Preparation Materials -> NES Profile on the ORELA website you’ll see links to the Content Domains. Those are helpful.
If you have a disability, you are a nursing mother, or English is not your primary language, you may be eligible for alternative testing arrangements and/or additional time to complete the test.
We have a Google Apps for OSU ESOL Exam Review site to help candidates review. You’ll be prompted to log in with your ONID account. If you do not have an active ONID account, you’ll need to contact Cheridy Aduviri (cheridy.aduviri@oregonstate.edu) to get access. Note: These are materials other candidates have found helpful, but they are not the official, comprehensive review materials that are available for purchase through the ORELA website.
There is also a study guide available at Valley Library in Course Reserves: ORELA English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Secrets Study Guide: Your Key to Exam Success.
