Wow, my second blog post ever! Today, I’d like to discuss about the use of artificial intelligence which I will be shortening to “AI” for the rest of this post.
It has come to that time when AI has made its way into our daily lives. While the topic of AI has recently caused quite a commotion on social media, AI has actually been around for a while now such as unlocking your phone with face ID, digital voice assistants like Siri or Alexa, and even listing your recommended items on Amazon.
Similarly, our group have used AI for our capstone project especially since ChatGPT available to the general public. While still in the early stages of our project, we’ve utilized ChatGPT to create an outline of general tasks and responsibilities to be completed and adding that to our task management system. Looking ahead, I plan to use ChatGPT in creating a basic structure for our application and adjusting it according to our project requirements. We can’t fully use ChatGPT to develop an entire application for us (besides, that goes against academic integrity even if it could), but if you are someone like me who often has trouble with coder’s block, a tool like ChatGPT can really help get the ball rolling. Overall, I firmly believe that using such a tool has improved my programming capabilities.
While many are afraid of AI possibly causing a displacement in the workplace, I rather view it as a supplementary tool for our work. If you have been following my blog, I mentioned that I have dabbled in the pharmaceutical industry in the past. Now we are seeing headlines about many corporations such as Genentech using generative AI to assist their drug discovery process. A perfect example of advancing healthcare with technology – an opportunity that I hope to partake in someday!
That’s it from me today, stay tuned for my next post!
