This is a unique dual-role appointment combining undergraduate chemistry instruction (0.6 FTE, 9-month) with academic advising (0.4 FTE, 12-month) to support a large and diverse undergraduate chemistry program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The teaching appointment (60%, 9-month) is a renewable, fixed-term position with opportunities for advancement to Senior Instructor ranks and leadership roles at the department or university level. Large-enrollment courses include strong TA support. Instructors have access to existing course materials and work within coordinated teaching teams. OSU also provides strong instructional support through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ctl.oregonstate.edu\/\">Center for Teaching and Learning<\/a>, including faculty learning communities, workshops, consultations, and access to professional development funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The advising appointment (40%, 12-month) is a renewable, fixed-term position with potential opportunities for advancement to a higher advisor position and leadership roles at the department or university level. The Academic Advisor monitors student progress, engages students in goal-setting and academic planning, and supports retention and degree completion for OSU\u2019s diverse undergraduate chemistry population. We strongly encourage applications from candidates with a genuine commitment to both student learning and student success.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Required \u2013 Instructor:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>M.S. in Chemistry or a closely related field<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commitment to fostering an inclusive, collegial, and collaborative environment for faculty, staff, and students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience or strong interest in chemistry instruction and\/or curriculum development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Required \u2013 Advisor:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited institution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated experience in a higher education student services setting, or related advising, counseling, or mentoring experience (K\u201312, nonprofits, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated commitment to educational equity in a multicultural setting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outstanding oral and written communication skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated experience establishing rapport in large group, small group, and interpersonal settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Preferred (all positions):<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ph.D. in Chemistry or an allied discipline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience as an instructor for in-person and\/or online courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with curriculum development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with academic advising or student service<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expertise in organic, physical, or analytical chemistry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two or more years of professional experience in higher education student services or related advising\/counseling\/mentoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional experience assisting diverse populations (non-traditional, online, international, historically underrepresented students)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to communicate effectively in front of large groups and provide presentations, workshops, and outreach programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge and application of retention practices, student development theory, and\/or proactive advising strategies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with student information or CRM systems (e.g., DegreeWorks, Banner, Navigate, Salesforce, Slate)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Position Expectations \u2013 Instructor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teach chemistry lectures and\/or labs, lower- and upper-level undergraduate courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teach in-person and\/or online courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work collaboratively within teaching teams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manage and supervise Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Learning Assistants (LAs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to curriculum development and instructional innovation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Position Expectations \u2013 Advisor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advise students to support timely degree completion and align academics with career goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor academic progress for an assigned undergraduate caseload<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct proactive outreach, especially to students from diverse backgrounds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explain policies, procedures, and academic requirements to guide student decision-making<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop and deliver workshops on advising and student success topics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain accurate electronic advising notes and records<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay current on university policies and pursue ongoing professional development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Salary and Start Date<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$60,000\u2013$65,400 (full-time equivalent), commensurate with qualifications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comprehensive benefits package:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hr.oregonstate.edu\/benefits\">hr.oregonstate.edu\/benefits<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relocation support per OSU policy:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hr.oregonstate.edu\/manual\/relocation-and-moving\">hr.oregonstate.edu\/manual\/relocation-and-moving<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start date: September 1, 2026 (flexible)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits Highlights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Medical, dental, and vision insurance;
