{"id":6946,"date":"2023-01-03T10:18:40","date_gmt":"2023-01-03T17:18:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/?p=6946"},"modified":"2023-01-03T10:18:40","modified_gmt":"2023-01-03T17:18:40","slug":"post-doc-ink-chemist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/2023\/01\/03\/post-doc-ink-chemist\/","title":{"rendered":"Post-doc Ink Chemist"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jobs.hp.com\/jobdetails\/17050229\/post-doc-ink-chemist-corvallis-or\/\">https:\/\/jobs.hp.com\/jobdetails\/17050229\/post-doc-ink-chemist-corvallis-or\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You must be enrolled in a university program working towards a PhD degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>***Internships can vary in time and depend on the availability of the student***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The post-doctoral R&amp;D chemist position is in HP\u2019s imaging and printing business in our Corvallis, Oregon facility.&nbsp; The work will be focused on development of new ink formulations through a combination of empirical design and modeling methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our group is responsible for the design and formulation of inkjet printing inks including the characterization of the print attributes and robustness.&nbsp; The project will focus on developing components that expand various ink attributes such as optical density and durability on different media.&nbsp; The project will also involve optimizing the new inks for drop formation and the printing process.&nbsp; Part of the role is to collaborate with the printer component designers to implement system level changes to balance tradeoffs in the various components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aspects of the role include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Component development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Formulation design (includes design for performance, manufacturing and chemical regulatory guidelines)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Print system characterization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cross-functional\/pan global team participation and leadership<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>External supplier material co-development and manufacturing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our group is part of a chemistry center of excellence that develops inks for the different print businesses. While we work across several sites, this project will partner primarily with colleagues in our Corvallis, Oregon location.&nbsp; The Corvallis site includes a combination of F&amp;D and manufacturing facilities with work ranging from MEMS fabs to large industrial printing presses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A recent (&lt;1 year) Ph.
