{"id":498,"date":"2012-05-08T12:16:16","date_gmt":"2012-05-08T20:16:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/?p=498"},"modified":"2012-05-08T12:17:45","modified_gmt":"2012-05-08T20:17:45","slug":"announcing-food-in-culture-and-social-justice-undergraduate-certificate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/2012\/05\/08\/announcing-food-in-culture-and-social-justice-undergraduate-certificate\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing Food in Culture and Social Justice Undergraduate Certificate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: x-small\">On behalf of the Provost and the OSU Faculty Senate I am pleased to announce the approval of the following certificate:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black;font-family: Calibri;font-size: x-small\"> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black;font-family: Calibri;font-size: x-small\">Food in Culture and Social Justice Undergraduate Certificate<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: x-small\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: x-small\">Beginning this summer the School of Language, Culture and Society will offer an interdisciplinary undergraduate certificate. Students who complete this certificate will not only have a clear idea of the cultural bases of food and food production, but will obtain some experience working towards community food security. The core will consist of courses in Anthropology, History and Ethnic Studies and a team-taught course on Food Systems.\u00a0 Electives are divided evenly between coursework in other humanities and social science disciplines and coursework in Agriculture, Nutrition, Food Science and Public Health.
