You can read more about these mechanisms in the NSF<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/pubs\/policydocs\/pappg18_1\/nsf18_1.pdf\">PAPPG<\/a>, Chapter II.E<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Convergence Research<\/span><\/b><span class=\"\"><span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>(<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/pubs\/2018\/nsf18058\/nsf18058.jsp\">NSF 18-058<\/a>) \u2013 explicitly multidisciplinary\/interdisciplinary\/transdisciplinary. This might support some of those spinoff projects that aren\u2019t CHE-focused enough for CCI funding. \u00a0These are RAISE proposals (see PAPPG ), up to $1.0 million in funding over three years. \u00a0This DCL is written incredibly broadly, so your proposal could be in<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><u class=\"\">any area covered by NSF<\/u>. There might be an extra kick for proposals relating to some of the<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><i class=\"\"><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/news\/special_reports\/big_ideas\/index.jsp\">10 Big Ideas<\/a>.<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Deadlines May 1 and Oct 15<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\"><span class=\"\">TRIPODS+X<\/span><\/b><span class=\"\"><span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>(<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/publications\/pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=nsf18542\">NSF 18-542<\/a>) \u2013 link your CCI science community to TRIPODS data researchers, do data science! \u00a0Different tracks for Visioning (workshops, conferences, community building, up to $200,000); and Research (doing science!, up to $600,000). Deadline May 29, 2018.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Enabling Quantum Leap in Chemistry<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b><span class=\"\">(<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/pubs\/2018\/nsf18051\/nsf18051.pdf\">NSF 18-051<\/a>) \u2013 Supplements and EAGERs, Deadline May 1.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">There are a LOT of opportunities being posted every week now. Most of these are cross-cutting opportunities that are multi-PI &amp; multidisciplinary. They are trying to track these on the<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><i class=\"\">10 Big Ideas<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i>pages, but you might also want to subscribe to the notifications available on the NSF home page. I\u2019ll try to remember to send them out, but you don\u2019t want to be waiting on me\u2026.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><span class=\"\">If you\u2019ve looked at the NSF budget request for FY 2019, you\u2019ve noticed that NSF plans to set aside significant pools of money for the<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><i class=\"\">10 Big Ideas.<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i>This is also being implemented in the FY 2018 budget \u2013 the CHE budget is smaller, but CHE researchers can compete for research money in these<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><i class=\"\">10 Big Ideas.<\/i><span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>We hope your CCI will help lead the way for chemistry researchers to see their science in the<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><i class=\"\">10 Big Ideas.<span class=\"x_Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are significant pools of money attached to these new solicitations, and short lead times due to the delays in federal appropriations.
