{"id":4536,"date":"2017-11-20T17:12:39","date_gmt":"2017-11-21T00:12:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/?p=4536"},"modified":"2017-11-20T17:12:39","modified_gmt":"2017-11-21T00:12:39","slug":"university-minnesota-lando-nsfreu-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/2017\/11\/20\/university-minnesota-lando-nsfreu-program\/","title":{"rendered":"University of Minnesota Lando NSF\/REU Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>About the Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each Chemistry Summer Research Fellow will receive a stipend of approximately $7400 to perform research over 10 weeks under direction of a chemistry faculty member on the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota \u2013 Twin Cities.\u00a0 The program also includes weekly lunches with faculty, a poster session, and various professional and social events (e.g. visits to companies, museums, and amusement parks).<\/p>\n<p>All fellows will be given the opportunity to live on campus for the duration of the program at a cost of approximately $1900.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summer Research Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Dates: June 4 \u2013August 10, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All appointments will be made within the time frame of June-August, with the first Monday in June reserved as a move-in day.\u00a0 Therefore, all travel arrangements may be made accordingly.\u00a0 If you require housing for a short period of time before the program commences or after the program has concluded, please contact the program director:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nick Erickson<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:chmlando@umn.edu\">chmlando@umn.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>612-624-0026<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Program History<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Maximillian Nandor Lando, a 1902 chemistry graduate of the University of Minnesota, initiated the Lando Program in 1973 with funds from his bequest to the University of Minnesota.\u00a0 Lando has been, and is presently also supported by the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) grant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application &amp;
