Spring 2015 &#8211; Shan Lansing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/files\/2015\/10\/Lansing-Shan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3137\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/files\/2015\/10\/Lansing-Shan-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Lansing, Shan\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/1046\/files\/2015\/10\/Lansing-Shan-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/1046\/files\/2015\/10\/Lansing-Shan-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/1046\/files\/2015\/10\/Lansing-Shan-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Shan Lansing spent the first 18 years of her life in Grants Pass, Oregon.\u00a0\u00a0 Being from a small town, she loved the feel of Corvallis, and the community aspects of Oregon State University.\u00a0 She\u2019s always known she wanted to be a doctor, but it was her work in Sean Burrows research lab that lead her to focus on oncology.\u00a0 She cites her advisor, Neal Sleszynski, as the reason she got into undergraduate research so early in her education.\u00a0 \u201cI went to meet with him for advising and he asked if I wanted to do research,\u201d she stated.\u00a0 \u201cThe rest is history.\u201d<br \/>\nShan said she\u2019s always been a detail-oriented person, so analytical chemistry was definitely the right area for her, stating that the precision of micro pipetting and various other fine detail work really appealed to her.\u00a0 Her favorite class was Quantitative Analysis, but favorite professors, she said, was a harder question to answer.\u00a0 She finally settled on Philip Watson and Paul Blakemore, stating, \u201cI feel bad, picking favorites; I really haven\u2019t had a bad [Professor] here.\u201d<br \/>\nShan is the current Social Chair for Sigma Delta Omega, the science sorority here on campus.\u00a0 In her spare time, she likes to swim and is training for some marathons next summer.\u00a0 Shan has an older brother and an older sister and is pretty sure her parents send her grade reports in a mass email because they\u2019re so proud of her accomplishments: as are we.\u00a0 Students like Shan are the reason we do what we do, and we\u2019re proud to have her in our department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shan Lansing spent the first 18 years of her life in Grants Pass, Oregon.\u00a0\u00a0 Being from a small town, she loved the feel of Corvallis, and the community aspects of Oregon State University.\u00a0 She\u2019s always known she wanted to be a doctor, but it was her work in Sean Burrows research lab that lead her&hellip;
